Default Any 4K Net Content out there for Bollywood/Tollywood/Kollywood?

Does any one know if there's any 4K content out there for Bollywood/Tollywood/Kollywood stuff on Netflix or Amazon or wherever else? Or plans to get these out there on the web? Also, is Bollywood geared up to catch up with 4K blu ray releases when the U.S. starts releasing them in 3rd Qtr 2015 (from what I've read, nothing official yet)?

This is still a looong way away for Indian releases in general, we haven't seen many films (esp catalog titles) on blu ray from the companies as yet.

My only hope is French or German releasing their most popular BluRays by Bodega or REM to their niche audiences. most probably DDLJ, JO AK and DEVDAS might see light of the day in UHD 4k in next 2-3 years.

4K content for what? Many people are not even aware of Blu-ray yet and you are talking about 4K. It will take at least a decade to upgrade to that technology.

Thanks

Perhaps Sajid Khan's next crappy film with Akshay Kumar will have a 4K release.

Considering that blu-ray releases for South Indian films have come to a trickle in the past few years, it's very unlikely you will see UHD releases out there. As for Hindi, most of the encoding / authoring studios have still not got the hang of making a good DVD, so I would not be excited at the prospect of them handling 4K.

Agree with Suresh. What's the point in seeing poorly authored 4K content?

On top of that 4K is best viewed in screen sizes over 80 inch or higher. How many people have such displays? Projectors are cheaper than giant TVs, but they are not always practical.

Unless you are seeing 4k content on any device bigger than a 80 inch wide screen and you sit around 5-6 feet from screen, 4K will either appear too artificial (seated closer or equal to minimum distance) or you eyes won't be able to resolve 4k detail (seated far from minimum distance).

See this page here

What the chart shows is that, for a 84-inch screen, 4k resolution isn’t fully apparent until you are at least 5.5 feet or closer to the screen. For a “tiny” 55-inch screen, you’ll need to be 3.5 feet or closer. Needless to say, most consumers aren’t going to sit close enough to see any of extra resolution 4k offers, much less 8k.

Most people have a tendency to increase sharpness and contrast way more than standard calibrated settings and they think what they are seeing is out of this world - well, in true sense it will be really out of this world as nothing actually looks like such exaggerated image

Now, imagine what will happen to the UHD disc if it is poorly authored. I am not too hopeful about Indian UHD 4k movie at this point in time. Let them release some good films on BD and they can have my money

Dont loose hope in Yash Raj Films production house. I loved the way YRF has taken initiative towards Dolby TruHD 96k. Every one of their BR carry it now.

Even though they royally screwed up DDLJ BR, I am very impressed with their DARR BluRay. It has some of the best VQ and AQ for a 20 years old film.

Once we go 4k end of this year. I have a feeling YRF wil be the First in Bollywood to put out UHD 4K BluRay in 2016. Most probably will be DDLJ and DARR or either one imo.

What a waste of 4K for this filtered effort.
