The Death of "Superman Lives": What Happened?

Anyone here interested in this?

I was looking at the website here, I'd like to buy it but $30 seems rather pricey for the Blu-ray, although there are a TON of features. I just wonder how 'home-made' its going to look....

If I knew that the case artwork, disc, disc art and footage, PQ & SQ, are all professionally done. I'd feel a bit more confident...

I do want it, if that's as cheap as its going to get I'll pay it. Loved Kevin Smiths story about this flick on An Evening not With Kevin Smith.

I'm interested, but not sure I'm willing to risk a blind buy.

Standard shipping is $10, too.

The creators have stated that this will not be sold anywhere else besides their own site. I've followed the progress of this doc for nearly a year now... This was mentioned about 2 weeks ago on Facebook.

I will pass on this one. I know the "Evening With...." story by heart so no need to retread that ground.

I heard this was out here, I just picked it up, 10 bucks is for 2 day express mail, so that's cool with me. it still is a bit steep, but eh whatever.

The writer / director of the doc, John Schepp, is one of the commentators on AMC Movie Talk on YouTube, if you want to see what he's all about. Good show; I've been watching for a couple of years now. The Schmoes are also on there, but unfortunately the long-time Editor-in-chief, John Campea, just left the show.

Does anyone know if the disc is pressed or if it's a bd-r? I just can't make myself pay $30 for a bd-r. Regarding the shipping, I did the paypal checkout without placing an order and didn't see any shipping added?

I backed this project on Kickstarter, and that experience made me gun shy about backing any other film projects via crowdfunding (the Orson Welles film being the first I've backed since then). Despite raising over $115,000, the project seemed to be delayed since day one, and when it became clear that Schnepp was in over his head and didn't understand what it took to make a film, he asked for another $85,000 on a different crowdfunding website (fanbacked). Then, over two years later, with the original backers still waiting to see the film, he basically showed it to everyone else first. His reasoning? That if backers saw it first, they would probably pirate it.

Basically, I wish I'd never given this guy a dime. But I suppose that is the risk you take with crowdfunding.

Yeah that $10 shipping charge is ridiculous, I was about to order but F that. Doesn't cost more than a couple bucks to ship a blu.

Wow, I had noticed that a lot of the interview clips look very amateurish. But I hadn't realize the guy raised THAT much money. I've seen documentaries that were made for a few thousand that look better than this. You'd think for 200 grand the guy could have gotten a decent light kit.

I contacted the filmmakers and was told that the disc is pressed. I still don't see any shipping added when I do paypal checkout.

The filmmakers are going to be at SDCC this year (Booth #3915) and they said they'll have copies of the Blu-Ray available for purchase. If anyone is going, it's a good way to avoid the steep shipping charges.

It adds $10 on the 2nd screen. No option for cheaper shipping.

When I look through their facebook, I see several instances where they say that it will only be sold from their site for now, but I haven't seen where they say you will never be able to purchase it elsewhere. I'm pretty sure I saw a post where they said in six months to a year it could be available at other retailers.
