Interesting - thanks for the heads up!

Just saw the 5th one on Monday at the premiere in Toronto with Tom Cruise and McQuarrie and really enjoyed it. Would be nice to have all five. Although they've started working on the 6th so hmmm

Remember Tom Cruise said a few days ago there is going to be another 'Mission: Impossible'... so, you will have a steelbook without all the titles of the saga.

Nice. I've gotten the first four individually, but if they have this in the US (I'm sure they will), I'll probably pick this up. Thanks OP!!!

So what version are we all getting?

Best Buy Steel-book
Regular version with slip cover
or selling our previous trilogy box set, and getting this new 5 pack steel-book combo? which looks awesome.

Hate to get this steel-book combo 5 pack, only to find out they are releasing a 6th movie in a year or two, and then back to the drawing board for our collections.

Thoughts?

Don't even bother with this combo pack if you must have the latest box set. They will make at least a sixth one, probably more as long as the movies keep making money. And as this series has been getting better with each movie, I support that.

I am going with the German amazon exclusive since the artwork matches the UK set better and has the bonus disc IIRC.

I'll bet the first 3 movies in this set still have lossy audio

It was never stated that Paramount was going to be doing new transfers for the older films with lossless audio so this was to be expected.

yes, that has been confirmed already, this is just a cash-grab on Paramount's part.

Yeah, we deserve more than this. Paramount keeps on churning out different retailer exclusive sets/packagings, etc. for this series but it doesn't bother to release a remaster in North America.

It wasn't but there are versions out there with HD audio. No idea why Paramount are dragging their feet on bringing these state side.

If you are referring to the Chinese ones that is probably because they are distributed by Excel in China and not Paramount. From what I can find everything distributed by Paramount has lossy audio (unless I missed a listing in any of the 10 pages of MI blu in the database ).

you might have, the Danish set has lossless transfers. Other European releases do, as well.

AFAIK there are currently two sets with MI:1-3 encoded with DTS-HD MA 5.1: the Scandinavian release and the Hong Kong one, but both of these only include the first 4-movies; the fourth film MI:GP got Dolby TrueHD 7.1

Edit: karl, I was about to post the links but you beat me to it
Anyway, for those who are interested, here's a link to the Danish online retailer:
