Exclamation Home cinema

Question.. Ive got a 5.1 home cinema..loving it bye the way.
I went to different shops for info. Several shops pusched me to bye the 3 in 1 system. Personaly i don't believe in a systeem with only 2 speakers and a sub. I'm i wrong ? or is it the best new way to experience watching movies?

N0 you are not wrong at all ! A three point one system uses a sound matrix chip that mimics true surround sound. It will always mimic and never give you the full 5.1 experience. You made the right choice. In the future I have my eyes set on the 7.1 or even a 7.2 surround system.

Welcome to the forum !

Depends what 3 speakers they were pushing you too

The three would be a "start" you ultimately want 5.1 or 7.1 though......

what did you end up getting?

To experience true surround sound, your choice of sticking with a 5.1 system was the better of the two choices.

However, there is nothing wrong with a 2.1 or 3.1 system to begin with. In fact, that is how a lot of us started out. I focused on first buying good quality fronts (see sig) and then added from there as my budget allowed.

What set-up do you have by the way?

there is only one system that actually provides 5.1 experience and that with just one speaker. Those are the yamaha Soundprojectors. They use 21 independent speakers who really produce sound from the back. All the other 2.1 Systems are crap. Believe me, we have a lot in the store where I work. They are good for listening to music but they are not as fun if you wanna watch movies. Especially since most of these systems only work if you are susceptible to the illusion. On some people, like me it simply doesn't work.

Me I have a samsung 5.1 home theater that was "given" with my tv. At that time I knew it was a very low quality system, but I though i could upgrade it step by step... but the speakers are 3ohms... So I guess that I can't only change de receiver and get new speaker latter... Do you have suggestion about that?

I'd suggest you upgrade it all at once.... start with a receiver and the front, L/R and Center speakers..... and go from there....
