Default Could Toshiba offer a combo?

In an effort to save HD-DVD this Fall, could Toshiba attempt to roll out a low-cost dual-format player?

I don't see why not. I actually was thinking about this awhile ago. I think that when Toshiba finally realizes that HD-DVD is never going to generate a profit for them, they will come out with a few models of combo players, and eventually start releasing BD only players. The only thing that scares me is the number of Toshiba players out there that don't work properly.

The first working combo player that is a true combo (not like the existing LG unit that does not work correctly) is suppose to be available from Samsung for $1,000 this fall. I am hoping that BLU-RAY will be so far ahead that Universal Studios will decide to go BLU-RAY and kill the demand for combo players. By the time combo players hit the market it might be to late for the HD-DVD format to coexist with BLU-RAY.
