Airwolf: The Complete Series -- December 25th, 2015 - Blu-ray Forum

NBCUniversal Entertainment Japan will release the complete series of Airwolf (1984-1986) on December 25th, 2015.

It will obviously be interesting to keep an eye on this and see just what it is. Right now I am assuming that it will copy the other releases, but that could change, and then, would it be worth such an expense, given that the UK and German sets already exist?

And will they try on lossy audio again, when the other sets apparently have lossless audio?

To my mind, there are several other series that Universal could and should have released in Japan prior to this one, so hopefully, it has something special.

The German set is very good and under 100 Euros. This will likely be 3 or 4 times the price (if not more), so I have no interest in it.

Was hoping Uni Japan would tap into the likes of INCREDIBLE HULK, AMAZING STORIES, SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN, etc. instead.

Exactly. Or T.J. Hooker, The Rockford Files (for which new HD masters now apparently exist), The Munsters (only 70 25-minute episodes), Hogan's Heroes...the list goes on of popular Universal TV in HD, and some or all of that has to be popular in Japan as well.

I'm just curious to see exactly what this, especially with a nonsensical 2306-minute running time.

Amazingly, it lists 2306 minutes...and DTS Mono audio.

It would be funny if the expensive Japanese release was totally inferior to the UK and German editions.

It looks like this release has been cancelled, as it has disappeared from the NBCUJ site, and Amazon has also cancelled the pre-order I made.

Apologies for the thread bump, but just saw AmazonJP has this on sale. Was curious if anyone bought it and could post some thoughts as to how it compares to the US set and, if possible, some in-hand pics.
I love that Reel Heroes card/poster that comes with it.
