Default Help! withOnkyo 805 speaker settings

Hi guys! I have an Onkyo 805 AVR and I am wondering what I should set my center and surround settings too? I have a Klipsch RC-52 center and a pair of S-3's for surrounds, the options on my AVR are Fullband, 40-200hz, any suggestions? I also have F-3's for fronts and I currently have them set to Fullband with the double bass feature set to ON. Thanks

Have you run Audyssey yet? That will set them for you.

what about it doesn't sound right?

One thing I often recommend is to sit in a preferred seating position and run the test tones. increase and decrease the volume of each speaker until they all sound like they are at the same level.

I have my 5 set to full band. on the sub, I have it set to receive all frequencies, but am limiting to 80Hz through the receiver.

The Audyssey will set the speakers based on their capabilities. The surrounds don't need to receiver LFE as they are omnidirectional and low low effects aren't ever really sent to the surrounds (they're more for accenting don't forget). For your fronts (L/C/R) you want there to be an even blend from speaker to subwoofer. You should be able to set them up for full band or crossover near where you cross the sub (say 60Hz if the sub is set to 80Hz).

Hey thanks alot for your time! I've got the front 3 (L,C,R) set to Fullband,I was figuring, since my S-3 surrounds are so big that i should set them to Fullband also.

no problem!

The S-3's only go down to 62Hz, so I wouldn't recommend having those set to Full-band. I'd probably put them on 80Hz, again the sub will pick up anything below that point and the fronts (where most your sound comes from) being set to full band will help with blending of the soundstage.

How do you like the S-3's, I'm thinking about using them as my rear surrounds.

Slec, I tell you what, the S-3's are alot bigger than I expected when i got them in the mail last week, i didn't actualy see them in person i got them online, i was going to get the S-2's but for some reason the 3's were cheaper , but I like the way they have 2 horns facing opposite ends of the room, they are kind of overkill for my livingroom but i couldn't pass up the price, they go great with my other klipsch speakers.

excuse me, I meant to say 80-100Hz (was thinking of something else at the moment)

the reason being is the center channel's primary purpose is to provide the dialogue. Dialogue ranges from about 100Hz to 10,000Hz...frequency's below that are out of the human vocal range and also can create masking.

With your sub and fronts set to full-band, the center channel does not need to provide the lowest frequency's. That's already covered.

Your RC-52's Frequency response is 67Hz-23kHz +/-3dB. So like Crackinhedz said 80-120hz. Not much dialogue is below 100hz so 100hz might be best setting.
