Default I sold Sony out

I pre-ordered the Samsung player from amazon so that I don't have to pay tax on it now I just need the switcher from geffen. I highly suggest that people order their players online that way you don't have to pay tax, with the money you save thats like 2 or 3 movies. Just find a place that the shipping is free.

I'm going to need a switcher as well. Will the one you mentioned work with my set's DVI input? That is will there be any problems if I connect an HD DVD player and a BD player to the switcher and then connect the switcher to my TV with an HDMI->DVI cable?

I've only heard good things about geffen. Geffen comes with a remote. I do have a onkyo reciever so I dont think I need the equalizer and there is a geffen affilated retailer near me so I don't have to pay shipping

As long as all the devices in the chain are HDCP compliant, I've never heard of any problem using HDMI->DVI cables or adaptors.

I have no idea - but I can tell you that the only one that I have personally setup was done with an Oppo DVD player (DVI->HDMI) and a HD-Tivo box (HDMI->HDMI). The destination was a Sanyo Z4 projector at the end of a 33 foot HDMI cable.

Results were flawless - all items worked perfectly.

AS FOR GEFFEN: Yes, Geffen is well received, but reports are that the Geffen has introduced some sparkles (digital noise?) into some of their products while the Monoprice has not.

Oh - and the Monoprice 5x1 model is about $130.00 shipped to your door. Geffen, for a 2x1 model will likely be well more than that. Yes, the Monoprice model has a remote... works flawlessly with your universal remote. Hey, it's your money, but I'd be hard pressed to think that the Geffen is in ANY way better than the Monoprice model.

1. It's (likely) more expensive
2. It (likely) has less inputs
3. It (may) introduce a tiny bit of noise.

So why do it? Look at AVS Forums and elsewhere for Monoprice reviews - they will astound you - really.

For the money, NYG - I would at least try the Monoprice model.
