Default Live Action Mega Man Movie...(Incoming From 20th Century Fox)

20th Century Fox is turning their attention towards the Mega Man Series.

The new film is being developed for Fox by Peter Chernin, via his Chernin Entertainment Company, who has also been involved in the reboot of The Planet Of The Apes Saga.

I don't know. The Mega Man games were always pretty straight forward side-scrollers. There wasn't much of a story there. Just collect different powers and defeat Dr. Wily(or some other bad guy). When Fox inevitably pads out the running time with some generic plot, we'll likely wind up with another medicore adaptation of a video game.

I'd be a little excited for this if it weren't Fox. Outside of the Apes and X-Men series their track record is questionable lately. Maybe if it were animated...

I remember the original games had a fairly simple story, while the later ones got more complex. The first one told of scientists Albert Wily and Thomas Light being friends and partners, building six Robot Masters together for different purposes. They were designed to handled tasks too dangerous for humans, like Ice Man working in the Arctic. Then, at some point, Wily betrayed Light, and reprogrammed the Robot Masters as his slaves. Light had two personal aids of his own, named Rock and Roll (it was the '80s, let it go). Rock volunteered for upgrades to confront Wily, and became Mega Man.

I'd love to see an all-CG film, with a top-notch voice cast. Rob Paulsen would make an excellent Dr. Wily; he hasn't done many villains that I know of, so it would be a welcome change of pace for him.

The 90's cartoon was bad ass. Really hoping for a Mega Man Soccer adaptation though.

Mega Man is my favorite video game series so unless this is a Dragonball Evolution or Super Mario Bros. disaster, I'll be there opening day.

this could actually work if done correctly, though I'm a little worried how silly some of the wiley robots could look with actors in cosplay suits. the only way this can really work if they do they motion cap. I would love to see robots from the X series, I always though the story was more in depth in those then the classic

I like the X series even better overall, despite some of its games being worse than anything in the classic series. The first and fourth X games in particular have a great story.

I love X1,2,3,4 after that the series got pretty awful and unplayable for me. If the movies went the X route Zero is much better option to have for a sequel than Proto Man would be. but for the classic series 3 and 4 would have to be my favorites in the series

Yeah X5, 6 and 7 were varying degrees of bad. X8 was a recovery but still not as good as the first 4.
