Extended editions are generally never in 3D, The Hobbit is a rare exception.

Sadly Poltergeist will be just like Hansel & Gretel, Green Lantern, Harold & Kumar, The Wolverine, Days Of Future Past, Hercules and all the rest - extended cut in 2D only.

Amazon.com still hasn't listed their Poltergeist 3D page for a 3D version.

On July 11, I sent an email to them about the problem and I also used the "tell us about a lower price?" link on the Poltergeist 3D page with a heads-up about changing the title to "Poltergeist [Blu-ray 3D + Blu-ray + UltraViolet]", so people who are searching for the 3D version will get a result.

Other sites that have the 3D listed correctly:
DVD Empire
Wall Mart
BestBuy
Rakuten.com

Could other members please contact them, for a correction?

Thanks

Amazon.com has finally added Poltergeist [3D Blu-ray] to designate 3D for the correct version.

A matter of time for lowest price guarantee to kick in for pre-orders.

Lower prices are found all over the place.

DVD Empire
Wall Mart
BestBuy
Rakuten.com

Also, the 2D version that was first confused for the 3D now has a correct image.

Thanks Paul for your efforts listing the info on the 3D.

I like the cover design.

Would love to be surprised with a 3D extended cut but I strongly doubt it. The 2D Blu-ray has both cuts on a "Single disc (1BD)" per the disc's specification on the 2D version page. I expect that disc will come with the Blu-ray 3D in a "Two-disc set (2BDs)" per specifications.

I'm going to call it now and say no. Apart from The Hobbit there's not been a 3D extended cut for home release on any 3D blu. It's a real shame though as i would love the extended cut in 3D.

i enjoyed the heck out of this movie, great fun.

You're probably right.

Priest also has the extended cut in 3D, so I was hoping for it. It's interesting this packaging has EXTENDED CUT so prominent, and is the "deluxe edition" with the 3D logo at the top. I guess we need to see the back of the packaging to look for "3D version is the theatrical cut".

EDIT: Ah, I see on the bottom of the front: "Includes 2 versions: Theatrical and Extended Cut." That probably seals it.

With extended cuts, there's a good chance they have to reassemble the assets and if this was converted, there's a very good chance only the theatrical cut was converted to save money and time, leaving the extended shots in 2D only.

With Hobbit films, since it's filmed in 3D and combined with rendered CGI stereo 3D, that makes the assembly of the extended version easier to manage.

But good point about Priest 3D being the unrated extended 3D version from Sony on one disc.

Well, press says "- Theatrical Cut in 3D - Extended Cut - Alternate ending..." so no 3D for extented cut.

Over in Region B land it looks like the UK is getting screwed again and this won't be getting a 3D release.

The German 3D version looks like it's a one disc edition so won't have the extended cut - unless the Australian version is any better, my money is down for the French release, which I just pray won't have any subtitle issues....

the news of no release in the UK is highly... mediocre, however all i want mainly is a 3D copy of the movie so i'll go for whatever is cheapest.

The Amazon page for the America 3D release says currently unavailable...I hope that's not an indication of the 3D being dropped here in the US as well.

Still available to order at DVD Empire with the 09/29/2015 release date.

BestBuy pre-order is still active:

I think something is going on with Fox and Amazon. I see Spy and the upcoming Bond re-releases (which I think are handled by Fox) are listed as currently unavailable as well, and the price points currently listed on the Poltergeist DVD and Blu are ridiculous ($43 and $49).

Yeah, it's back up, now. For only $59.99. Amazon is having a dispute with Fox. They've had these rows with WB and other distributors in the past.

This is kind of stupid, though. I'm about to cancel my order with Amazon and order from Best Buy, to avoid this stupid mark-up. That doesn't hurt Fox; but it does take a sale from Amazon.

I am pretty sure the German release is the same as the US. What Amazon says is not always the truth about disc counts and other stuff.
Its also confirmed the German release will have the extended cut too. Because there is a german audio version rated.

http://www.bluray-disc.de/blu-ray-ne...f-blu-ray-disc

So its definitely on the German 3D release. Anything else would be out of the norm

Can anybody figure Amazon out? The original link to Poltergeist [3D Blu-ray] that I originally placed my order from and that Blu-ray.com is using, still states "Currently Unavailable". Yet, the above link with Poltergeist (2015) [Blu-ray] @ $59.99, and showing the Blu-ray 3D Cover is an active page with the September 29, 2015 releases date.

EDIT:
Figured it out myself! The $59.99 version is the FRENCH release VERSION!

In the red title: Extended Cut and added "MONTAGE PROLONGÉ" and under that in White: (VERSION FRANÇAISE INCLUSE)

Screen shot 2015-09-03 at 1.24.28 PM.jpg

and on the bottom of the slipcover:

Well the listing disappeared entirely...I guess Amazon has banned Fox movies.
