I'm not investing in 4K/UHD but if someone gave me a TV and player, I wouldn't pay more than current bluray prices.

Default ummm ...easy...

I'd be willing to pay about...

unless it was a season set or a multiple disc set like the 5 disc Blade Runner set, then I'd be willing to spend about...

I'm a fairly reasonable fellow, after all...

Beats me, I'm in no real hurry to upgrade my hardware and I have no real idea how much of a difference there's going to be between UHD and BD.

Given my current lack of excitement I'm not particularly interested in paying too much of a premium over BD but who knows what the future will bring.

I am sure movie lovers will pay full price if they do a good remaster on each movie they put out on UHD

I will not pay any more than $100 for a player, and even then that's pushing it. The discs will have to be less than $20 for me to even consider it.

Having witnessed a side by side comparison between 1080p and 4K I wouldn't pay any more than today's Blu-ray prices. The difference between 1080p and 4K isn't as dramatic as the difference between SD and HD.

I agree totally with your pricing structure.
The studios have already begun to make these masters offering them first as downloads on cable and other services. It's not like they mastered these films only for disc release.
With BDs selling for as little as $7.99 not long after their initial release its obvious the cost of producing them isn't as high as we have been lead to believe - especially by the rotten kingdom of Disney; who continues to rip-off consumers.

Only has to look at what's available via download service to know what's on the agenda for release for disc. ... and we know the 007 films were also mastered in 4k about 8 years ago.

Add to that some of the actually financial failures that have been chosen for 4k download how dare the studios expect to ask anything more - even though the downloads are hefty in price (for downloads) so I guess the studios do believe the puplic will pay more. Add to that the announcement of THE FANTASTIC FOUR being one of the first releases, well...

Definitely no hurry to upgrade, but $20 would be my limit.

I have $500 set aside for a player, and I would like disks to be in the $30-$40 range at most.

I will pay as much as $40 as long as the movie is not another re-release of movies that they have ask us to buy and re buy again and again because they made it a little cleaner, and the disc must be all 4k none of this 2k on 4k disc, like the many 108i disc there are now.

is that a reason not to do it?

the fact that what I want coincides with what they want is just convenient. I'm not going to deny myself something I want and can afford just to make a point on some sort of off chance they bring down the price.

... and you get what you pay for. Newer technology is always more expensive. Both DVD and Blu-ray had players in the $500-1000+ range. There's no reason to believe UHD BD will be any different.

Depends on the title, surely? I'd have no problem paying above the usual sort of price for the right movie but others, no. This is obviously going to be subjective.

I went with 30$ since I think 40$ is a bit too high for me, but a better answer would have been around 35$ for a movie I really want.
