Sony recalls laptops for possible overheating
Quote:
TOKYO - Sony Corp. is recalling 440,000 Vaio laptop computers worldwide because of a wiring flaw that could cause overheating.
Sony said Thursday the recall involves 19 models in the Vaio TZ series manufactured between May 2007 and July 2008.
The Tokyo-based consumer electronics company said improperly placed wires near the hinge connecting the body of the laptop and its display could wear quickly, causing a short circuit and overheating. A flaw in a circuit board inside the display could also overheat its rim.

Yes I remember all those battery recallings and not just from one brand but from many. Don't they test their stuff before putting it on the market ? This kind of incidents should not happen.

You cant test every single item before it goes on the market

and even if you did, you couldn't get an accurate result from the tests as Different users use there laptops in man different environments and push them to the limits

plus they are batteries, They fail over time and have different results based on what was said, as far as using conditions, temperature..etc

thats 100% right , you can test something one day and it may be fine , another day it can fail..the good point is Sony is taking an active role in getting to the problem and fixing it instead of saying example: "there is not a problem".

Gee, I wonder who has said that about their overheating paperweights?

Don't tell me, I'll respond in a few minutes once I figure it out.

Let me ask Wingman, hey Wingman! Do you know what he's talking about?

Toshiba was HD-DVD because they were the developer of it and only manufacturer to release players. Sony is part of Blu-Ray, but only a part. I dont like the business practices of Sony or MS, but I happen to enjoy both machines. Just because I like Blu-Ray movies, doesnt mean I have to love Sony. I had 2 ps2 systems ( the fat ones) break on me, so why should i be happy with Sony?

and as you can see things change..new CEO's, New product testing Quality Control etc..

Companies are just like anything else they can change their habits good or bad.

Example:

people were upset with Sony over "ROOTKITS" when Microsoft has had a Rootkit backdoor into everyones computer since windows 95...yes even now with windows xp and Vista they IE:Microsoft still has that rootkit backdoor into a Microsoft OS.
