Well...using this new fangled* website called Amazon.com...
Typing in... Flash drive portable player Returns close to 30,000 results. *Considering my first computer(not "the family computer") had twin double side floppies... Amazon is "new fangled"... |

I thought maybe they made something specific for car audio. I have a 32gb drive full of music so basically I was looking for an adapter not another mp3 player. Although I didnt specifically search the phrase you specified, I did search other terms in amazon and Google and found nothing of what I had in mind. This is why I posted a thread. I'll keep looking.

There is a whole slew of portable players that even include FM radio. All of them have headphone jacks. The difference is... Some of them have USB for a flash drive... Some of them are already a flash drive... And some others that add in the ability to be the intermediary between analog -> digital storage. |

No. This is why I specified "play mp3s from a thumb drive". I don't have a mp3 player other than my phone. I don't want to tie up my phone because I use it for work. Was thinking of an adapter so I can play through the truck speakers via 3.5mm aux in.

So in that case, you want one that, itself, is also the flash(thumb) drive. And the "play mp3s from a thumb drive" doesn't mean you don't already have them. And what phone do you have that can't do two things at once? Mine can play Spotify/Iheart/Pandora while on the phone. Granted streaming(if not far enough ahead) gets interrupted on a phone call(only phone calls). Anything "on the phone" is not interrupted by phone calls. And yes, my phone can send music audio out the headphone jack while using the phone...for phone calls, at the same time. Or, it can use Bluetooth for music while being on a phone call. And if I'm on a Wi-Fi network, it can stream and do a phone call at the same time(but...yes...you can see the battery level dropping by the second...so have a charger handy) Last edited by schan1269; 09-19-2015 at 05:19 PM. |

Flash drive portable player So the device has control over the content on the flash drive. Then the headphone jack gets connected to the aux in. The key here...is... Portable player with headphones. I would have thought...that would be obvious as... He needs the headphone jack. And if it has one, it must have the ability to control the flash drive. Just thought of that as well. If your phone has the ability to stream via Bluetooth(or just play internal music) while on the phone...
You can get a Bluetooth music receiver instead. I have a G3. I've loaded a few hundred songs into Spotify(paid subscription). Those loaded songs can be played over the headphone jack or Bluetooth while on the phone. There is no limit(I think) to the number of loaded songs. And...they stay in Spotify. Don't take room in the phone. If I'm talking on the phone while actually streaming, Spotify tends to get 5 minutes ahead, so 5 minute and under calls don't interrupt the stream. Pandora and iheart typically don't get ahead more than 2 minutes. This is also based on being in a 4g area. Last edited by schan1269; 09-19-2015 at 05:32 PM. |
