it was a really good movie. Did anyone read the short story that it is based off of? One of the few movies I know that improve upon the text it is based on. There are a few differences between the movie and story. The pre-crime unit in the story arrested people for all sorts of crimes (tax fraud, stealing). I thought it was much better just using the pre-crime unit for murder.

It's not a Warner Bros. title, you're thinking of A.I. Artificial Intelligence.

DreamWorks SKG and 20th Century Fox co-produced Minority Report.

Whoever wrote AI did an excellent job.

That movie really makes me sad. Even cried a few times. Sounds pathetic but it makes you (me anyways) realize just how short life is and just who we are in the whole big scheme of things.

Two excellent movies I would love to have.

I suspect Spielberg has the final word on both. He shot down HD DVD when they took the liberty of announcing JP and Jaws as coming soon. He might wait on a winner or at least sales as high as what DVD had when he finally gave the go ahead. Though, MR and AI may not be held in the same esteem as some of his others, so you never know. Can't wait to see both.

Two things:

1) Is it just me, or does Minority Report bear a strong semblance to Logan's Run? A cop in a futuristic society who hunts down "criminals" until he ultimately is betrayed by the system and becomes the hunted. I think I remember one of the trailers even read, "Start running."

2) My wife won't even watch A.I. because it'll make her sad. I say screw the little robot boy! Just because you make a toaster look and act human...And for the record, Data is not alive nor was he ever alive. I don't care what Capt. Picard thinks!

3) OK. Thanks for letting me get that off my chest. That Data thing has been buggin me for a long while.

maybe its a good thing that spielberg is not letting HD dvd release his movies. so when HD is done they will be on bluray

Minority Report was awesome. I'd get the BD for sure. I'd love iRobot was well!

What studio owns that one?

I expect Spielberg and Lucas both want to see an end to the war before giving their go ahead. But they also might wait for market saturation to increase or at the very least for BD to more fully mature. I would expect Spielberg will want JP done with DTS MA, which isn't exactly there yet. And both will want to release discs that are fully evolved in terms of java etc, so they don't seem dated in the years ahead.

Only the question is...

George Soros bought the DreamWorks library from Viacom during the acquisition of DreamWorks at Paramount.

I tried to find more information on this but I couldn't. Anyone know anything about this and how it will affect the video distribution? Will Paramount be releasing these onto DVDs or will George Soros release them through a private distributor?

Hmm.

Wow, where did you dig this old fossil?

A lot has been discussed here:

But to answer your question, yes, UK version is region free.
