Default Polar Express in 3D coming to Blu-ray

I wonder how this is going to look? I wonder if it will come with glasses? Looking forward to this release just to see how the 3D is going to look at home.

The Flames? What, when was the last time a Canadian team won the cup?

Couple came close recently, including the Flames in 2004. I think the Habs are the last Canadian team. Early 90's if I remember.

Guess we've really gotten of topic. Oh well...GO FLAMES!

Until there's a Blu-ray 3D spec, a standard for transferring 1080p24 x2 streams (probably as 1080p48) to 3D monitors, and wider availability of 3D capable monitors for home use, the only way to do fully compatible 3D at home is to encode 3d as standard video using 3d anaglyphs.

That means you need glasses (usually red/blue or red/cyan depending on how they encode the video) and the color spectrum is thrown considerably off as a result. The technology used in IMAX 3D or Real D in theatres is far more advanced using polarized glasses or LCD shutters to achieve true full-color 3D. Their methods are far more advanced, but extremely costly, and not currently compatible with Blu-ray or home displays.

Anyway, the release will include a few pairs of cheap cardboard glasses in the case, or you can use more professional glasses you can purchase separately. The effect is passable as 3D, but the loss of color information makes it a far less engrossing experience than in theatres.

Just don't see it happening. Last year we were the only team that could handle Detroit Sucks. This year were even better and we picked up the 2 number one free agents Huet and Campbell. It's going to be a great year and years to come for the Blackhawks.

Flames are MUCH MUCH deeper now as well. Just don't think the Hawks have it yet. Flames win the West. Bank it.
