Default Silence Of The Lambs (25th Anniversary 4K Edition)

If this doesn't come out next year I'm gonna be really pissed.

While the movie itself was a drab looking one and the current Blu-ray is certainly not one of the best examples of the format, I unfortunately doubt we will see cash strapped MGM footing the bill to re-master/re-scan this.

Why not, as far as potential money making releases, this is at the top of their list.

The problem is MGM doesn't have a lot of cash. There are a lot of MGM movies on Blu-ray out there, no matter the distributer, that clearly are from old scans. MGM doesn't appear(bankruptcy and all)to have a lot of money to spend on at least creating new scans, let alone any restoration work. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see a new scan/transfer.

MGM make a lot of Money with the Hobbit Trilogy and with Skyfall. Further I think they make this year manmy new money with Spectre.

When MGM have not enough money, why they give not the okay for Restiorationwork Fox.

Fox have the distribuitionright for many MGm titles, withz new remastered versions, Fox could easily profit from them.

I remember there was some talk about a new restoration due to its inclusion in a video with Rainman and others?

Meh, I'm fine with the current disc, there'd have to be some earth-shattering new extras and a good price for me to double-dip.

My guess is he means the reframing of the image?

I too would greatly want a 4K Remastered The Silence of the Lambs. I'm still keeping my Criterion Collection DVD along with the current MPEG2 BD50 release at the moment. Well, the latter I'd sell if I knew a 4K Remastered release was top notch and carried over all the bonus features.
HANNIBAL I can just buy the UK Blu anyway.

Yeah the reframing on Rain Man is barely noticeable. You'd need to do a side by side comparison of individual shots to find differences, all the valuable visual information was kept intact. And every other aspect of that release was an improvement. We'll be very lucky if Silence of the Lambs gets the same treatment.

We'll be lucky if Silence of the lambs gets teal and yellow in its 4K restoration, and not another color palette which will become the new trend!

OAR and original sound mix or nothing. If this board is for nothing else, it's for making sure that we get the PROPER theatrical presentation.

They aren't cash-strapped anymore. It's not 2010.

They had the money to 4K remaster Robocop, The Good, the Bad & The Ugly (although they screwed that one up), Rain Man, Fargo, Rocky...

According to the DP it is OAR and finally framed correctly.

Actually, no. Last I heard, he said he'd have to look into it. And I'd also love to see some 35mm comparisons.

My Mistake. Director:

Quote:
The master from the original DVD and Blu-ray releases had non-standard sizing with certain frames appearing smaller or off-center. This new release used 4K source materials and restored the correct aspect ratio as originally intended and was reviewed by director Barry Levinson himself.

And? What's your point? I'd like to know under wear circumstances that "review" took place. I wouldn't expect someone to remember the exact framing of something from 30 years ago. Show him a direct comparison and then we'll talk.
