that's a boring list. most of these are already available in full HD. Would have preferred older classics from Mani Ratnam and Shankar on BD

I would forget about seeing any Blu-Rays of older Tamil films, since the elements likely require a lot of restoration, which nobody wants to pay for. And if the films had DIs the producers may not want to give access to them, if they even have them. This is all a moot point anyways, since Tamil Blu-Rays are a dying niche.

I've heard good things about Goli Soda, so if the quality is good (and it actually gets released) I'll buy it.

Yuva probably wouldn't release on BD with a dual Hindi-Tamil track as Aayutha Ezhudhu was a completely separate film with a different star cast. With regards to the other Mani Ratnam films, I seem to recall Sunny Audit saying that there were issues with the rights - as there were requests for Ayngaran to release the DVDs back in the day with dual audio tracks.

Going back to the original post, even if the films mentioned aren't of a huge amount of interest, surely the fact that more films are releasing on BD is a good thing? A positive sign for the future?

Interested in Sathuranga Vettai and Goli Soda to an extent

Not to disappoint you guys, but I have seen couple of DVD's from Modern Cinemas and those were taken from SUNTV print. They have placed the Modern Cinemas Logo over the Sun TV logo and in the last seen the Modern Cinemas logo was missing and I was able to view the Sun TV logo.

So these movies should either be a copy from SUNHD channel or from Tentkotta/Hero talkies print.

may be those are pirate copies. MC DVD9 contains DTS audio . do Sun TV HD has DTS

No SUN tv HD have only Dolby Digital 5.1, watermark and their effort is the problem with Modern Cinema. they are not trying to give good quality DVDs.

I've few MC dvds. Like Ishtam,NKPK,Paradesi,Thanka meenkal,IAB,Madayaanai koottam,Rummy,Vanavarayan vallavarayan ...etc. I can't find WM/LOGO of SunHD/Tentkotta/Herotalkies on any of them. Well, all of them comes with wm/logo of MC & 3 Audio tracks (5.1 &2.1 Dolby digital + 5.1 Dts)
