With the release of F/SN: UBW, I finally decided to pony up the dough to get the Fate/Zero box sets, but I see that the first volume is sold out everywhere.
Goddammit. Has anyone heard if they're planning on releasing standard, non LE sets for these like they did with SA:O? |

I don't have UK BD capabilities. I did find it listed as available on some sites I'm not familiar with, so I'm hesitant. Amazon and Rightstuf are my two go to's for anime, but even Aniplex's site is showing sold out, so I'm assuming that it's just not available anymore.
Figures. |

You could always try the JP sets, they're region free and include English subs. Importing via Amazon.jp is very easy. Still REALLY expensive though, unsure which is the better deal... |

Not even eBay had any when I made my original post.
Since then, ONE has gone up as of yesterday, and one day into the 9 day bidding window, it's at $310.00 with 25 bids. ![]() Maybe I'll just settle for the DVDs on this one. Anyone SEEN the DVD versions and can comment on the PQ? |

If you don't need the dub (and want the great Einzburn Consultation Room extras) you could import the Japan version: http://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B005ZOPANI
There are some used ones from marketplace sellers for $130-140 plus shipping (which would be about $10-12 to the US). Just keep adding different ones to your cart until you get one that will get to the Place Order page--that means Amazon will ship it internationally. |

It should be noted those extras lack English subs as like usual, Aniplex Japan puts English subs only on the main feature and nothing else, and then you see plenty of said unsubbed extras fail to make it to the domestic release.

Also true--need to do this myself some day. Yea, if you want the dub you're gonna have to continue to search. Good luck! |

It's so frustrating the way that Aniplex USA handles their releases.
While I was screwing around in their store, I had completely forgotten that they have the license to Baccano! and have done nothing with it for years. The borderline price gouging (at least in comparison to most other US anime companies) is bad enough, but at least make the stuff available to those who are willing to shell out the bucks. The way that they are more or less just SITTING on the licenses for this stuff is irritating. |

One thing that I thought the AoA releases had over the imports (besides the dub, for those interested) was that the OP/ED songs were subbed. Having untranslated songs has always been a pet peeve of mine.
Anyway, I hope that you'll eventually be able to snag a copy, Magikor. |

I was never suggesting they "press a few dozen copies for people like me". I was merely suggesting it would seem like a better practice to keep their titles in circulation rather than keeping them in print for a few months and then doing nothing with them.

Then there's the times where AoA doesn't release a show they got (Usually because they feel it didn't do well enough in streaming). Shows like Mekakucity Actors, Nanana's Buried Treasure, Samurai Flamenco, and Day Break Illusion will never see an R1 release, ever. |

Also worth noting on ANNCast, they explicitly stated Rurouni Kenshin won't come out, and they're not concerned with catalog titles. It's upcoming shows or nothing for them. Aniplex Japan is similar. Their stuff goes OOP fast as well sometimes. Like Garden of Sinners: Recalled Out to Summer went OOP less than a month after release. I also heard various Monogatari series releases went OOP pretty quick. [Edit]Looking around Amazon Japan, another recent example we can cite is SAO II. It's already OOP in Japan. Many volumes have no listings available or are only available through marketplace sellers. Last edited by BigOnAnime; 10-16-2015 at 07:16 AM. |

Again, I'm not stating they should make an exception for "people like me", but it would just be nice if they'd keep popular shows in circulation. As for the older things they're not going to release, why even go to the trouble (and cost) of licensing something they're not going to do anything with? |

They probably do one or two print runs and that's it. It's not like they print 250 copies every other week or so to start out. A few copies for those who're now searching can't be done, and another real print run (1000 or something, I would guess) would leave them with tons of copies they wouldn't be able to unload.
