"Unnecessary content" problem - Blu-ray Forum

So, I keep getting errors that I cannot download content to my ps4. Most recently it's the new destiny patch. The error states I need to delete unnecessary content from system storage.

I have well over 50 gigs of free space. What the heck? I wasn't able to download battlefront beta (8 gigs) until I had 100 gigs free.

I have the standard 500 gig hard drive still.

Hmm, I usually encounter that same problem at about 30-35 gigs or so (it seems to vary between the two depending on how big the downloads are). Is there a big chunk of corrupted data on your HDD or something?

Nothing that I'm aware of. I'll have to double check, but nothing says corrupted.

System has to probably keep so much HDD space free for system tasks? I dunno only thing I can think of.

Performance of the console takes a dive at around 20GB, noticeable at 50GB.

If you have more then 50GB you shouldn't run into anything but system lag with a 500GB HDD.

On my 1.5TB, I'll get performance issues if I have less than 200GB free.

That's really bizarre.

I guess I can clear out destiny. I'm thinking I'm done with that game for good.

Maybe give the whole system a format and start fresh?

Yea, I've gotten that error a couple of times already and I'm looking at upgrading the HD to 2TB and hopefully that will last me a year or so.

Hm, if you've had the same issue, maybe it's BECAUSE of PT? Anyone else have that game still, and had this issue?

Backup your HDD with an external one. You won't lose PT that way.

Well, I figured it out. Seems like the patch for destiny itself was corrupted. I deleted it, and re-downloaded it, and it's working just fine so far.

I've had a corrupted file before as well but I think I deleted whatever game it was right away & re-started download.

Glad to hear it was just that.
