Thumbs down Baby Mama Featureless, DVD has them?!

Shouldn't people be mad that the Blu-ray for Baby Mama has only a commentary, when the DVD has bloopers and deleted scenes and who knows what else?

What's the deal here? This isn't the first Blu-ray release that has left everything out of the box. Is it because the special features weren't in HD or what?

I didn't buy the Blu-ray version, but I had been looking forward to the bloopers and deleted scenes that I'd seen previewed on TV, and sure enough, they weren't there.

Universal is getting the major shaft with BD-50's. They couldn't fit them. The same thing is happening with the upcoming release of Jarhead. The HD DVD had all the extras and the blu-ray will only have the commentaries.

Just gives me a reason not to buy it. They most likely will re release it with more special features. I'll wait.

I am a strong believer in having BD versions released with all or more extras than those included with the DVD version. To answer your question...most of the forum members are not interested in Baby Mama. I am sure that a lot of posts will contradict my statement, but the facts will vindicate it. Chick flicks = an disinterest level of 97%-98%.

Gotta' say I disagree with that completely. I don't see it as being a "chick flick". It's a comedy. Tina Fey is very funny. 30 Rock is one of my favs.

Yeah it's hardly a chick flick, it has moments where it tries, but it is a comedy over anything.

The better half and I watched this last night. We both agreed (which hardly ever happens) that this is a pretty funny film. It's hard to make me laugh, I mean really laugh. And this film did it.

As far as being a chick flick, I mean it is based upon a very female-oriented storyline, but it is in no way a chick flick. It's a comedy, and a good one at that.

I enjoyed this film quite a bit when I saw it in theaters and am waiting for it from Family Video (no, they're not nearly as great as the fanboys make them seem). But I am very, very dissapointed with the features. Here's what's missing:

- Feature Commentary With Writer/Director Michael McCullers, Producer Lorne Michaels And Cast Members Tina Fey & Amy Poehler
- Alternate Ending
- Deleted Scenes
- Saturday Night Live: Legacy of Laughter, Brought to You by Volkswagen
- From Conception to Delivery: The Making of Baby Mama
- And more!

Here's what we, the people who spend more money, got:

- Feature Commentary With Writer/Director Michael McCullers, Producer Lorne Michaels And Cast Members Tina Fey & Amy Poehler

I understand that Universal is getting the shaft with the BD-50's, however the film is only how long? And how many films are released on BD-25's and have more features? Look at some of the Fox (a studio that also does what Universal does most of the time) releases that are on BD-25's like Ice Age and have the features from the DVD.

My take on the lack of extras on Universal titles is that they are still pissed that Blu won. They spent all this money supporting HD DVD and saw it blow up in their face. They don't seem to be putting a great effort towards promoting Blu. If you notice there is nothing at the beginning of a Universal Blu movie like trailers for upcoming releases and the usual intro with the Universal globe is very plain not like their HD DVD releases. It seems like they are just releasing the movies to compete with other studios but not to please the fans. I could be wrong but that's my take.

I agree completely. But if it was indeed the lack of BD-50s to go around, I guess Universal can't get full blame.

And I do agree that an overwhelming majority here have no interest in the film due to the subject matter. My wife bought it and I'll watch it with her when we get the chance.

On HD DVD all they had was this Universal HD DVD logo and that was it. So because that's not on the disc they're not supporting Blu-Ray as much?

This was a pretty funny comedy. It wasn't a chick flick, though it tried hard to have a contrived, chick-flick ending.

As for the lack of extras, it is definitely disappointing. I don't, however, believe it has anything to do with Universal being "bitter" about Blu-ray winning. Universal is a business and they are going to make decisions based on market factors and money, not emotions at this point. The format war is over. None of the studios are fighting it anymore.

Good, comedy. As for the extras. thats a big shame. When you buy a blu-ray of a movie it should be the best edition of the formats, contain all special features and commentaries. I hate the fact that they release ultra special editions later down the road. No extras when the dvd has them, Boycott them!

I couldn't see it being a space issue like some of you have been saying, seriously, I've seen a lot of Blu-ray movies that contain plenty of special features while still being a Hour and 45 Minute movie.

If they're so concerned about space, they need to just put a second disc in the case with the special features. Like I said, the main one I wanted to see was simply the bloopers. Now I am very glad I didn't buy it, cause I would have been pretty mad about getting screwed over like that.

As far as the movie goes, it is so weird for Tina Fey, QUEEN of 30 Rock to do such a broad comedy. While it has it's definite moments of funny, odds are, you've seen them ALL in the trailers. And that sucks.

It's not a chick flick, for those who have judged the book by the cover.

Actually, there's main actors completely missing from all the trailers and TV spots and I think it's surprising to see them in the film. It's also kind of sad that reviews (like the one on this site) give away that these people are in the film when clearly they leave them out of the trailers/tv spots for a reason.

It's a space issue. Stop reading into it.

When i get it from rental, i plan on telling you how much space was used.

No bloopers or deleted scenes? And those aren't ever in HD anyway?

No sale.

I think they still could have included bloopers that doesn't take up much space.

the running time is 99 mins on BD 25 They could have included the extras.

Speed Racer is 135 MINS on a BD 25 and contains two little docs at the least.

So Universal would have been fine on the extras. I also have seen some reviews for the image quality and I hear the image is very soft but this was prob a choice on the film makers part.

I will prob just rent the reg standard DVD so I can see the bloopers etc.

Speed Racer does not have lossless audio, and it's all a matter of compression as well.

If they couldn't get a BD50, why didn't Universal use 2 BD25s? The DVD of any title shouldn't have an advantage over the BD version.
