there is a big thread about star wars 7. this is about the marathon of star wars 1-7. I will be listing the movies theaters that are going to play it. if you see or hear a listing that is not posted. please let me know.

tickets will also go on sale for the Star Wars Marathon at select theaters, which will lead into the first screenings of The Force Awakens on December 17. Those tickets will cost $50 for all seven movies, and while The Force Awakens will be presented in 3D, it will not be in IMAX (so, if you want to see The Force Awakens in IMAX, you’re going to have to purchase a separate ticket).

Nice for those that can go, but I'm just gonna have my own marathon at home. One movie per week starting Friday November 6th, then one per day premiere week. (Seriously, 18 hours in a theater???)

I was originally going to make a weekly marathon, but then I chose not to. I will start my marathon once TFA hits theaters. One movie per day starting from Episode 1 and finishing with Episode 6. The day after that i'll make my way to the Cinema for Episode 7. That will give everyone else a chance to watch it for those first few days where it will be mayhem. (Not a big fan of crowds they just bring screaming kids, popcorn throwers and chair kickers).

If the marathon would have been in IMAX, the tempation would be higher...but I'll probably end up doing a prequel marathon on the 16th and an original trilogy marathon on Thursday with the IMAX premiere that evening. It's been awhile since a movie has had me this excited!

I think I'm going to end up doing this. I'm definitely going to skip Phantom Menace. Getting up before 4AM to watch the weakest of the saga certainly seems torturous. So I'll probably watch Episode I a day or two before the marathon.

I'm just hoping that I have the stamina to spend my entire day at a movie theater. Before this, my max number of movies was three in a day back in 2003 (Legally Blonde 2, Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle, and 28 Days Later - I can't say they were three GOOD choices, but I worked at a movie theater so it cost me nothing).

That $50 price is sweet; I have no interest in seeing The Force Awakens but I wouldn't mind seeing Eps. I-VI on the big screen (would be my first time seeing the OT theatrically, even though I'm sure they're playing the Blu-ray versions...). Looks like I'd have to go with AMC for this but I hope the Alamo in my area shows up on the list, I really want that Mondo pint glass.

I did the Episode 4-6 then 1-3 Marathon back in 2005, started at 7am and got back to the hotel around 1am, no way I could do that nowadays.

Good point about spending an entire day watching movies. Only time I have time to do that is when I'm feeling sick and have to stay home.
I think I'll be more attentive and alert if I watch one movie per night at home, rather than spend 12+ hours watching the prior films and then finally getting to see Star Wars VII totaling 14+ hours in the theater.

Credit to anyone able to go 14 hours in the theater seat.

A marathon that starts at 4am and consists of 7 films is ridiculous. And there's not a lot of time in between films or trilogies for a break. I don't see how people won't be totally drained and burnt out by the time Episode 7 starts.

They should've split up the two trilogies like this:

Wed Dec 16 - Prequels
Thurs Dec 17 - OT followed by Ep 7.

Kudos to those hardcore enough to do this though.
