You're getting a sound from the speaker with the test-tone? If you try the pseudo-Atmos options do you hear anything? You're testing an Atmos Blu-ray?

Have you checked your firmware is up-to-date on both player and receiver (I'm not sure if they can be updated?)?

The receiver displays that it's receiving an Atmos signal?

Blu-ray players don't have Atmos settings.

Atmos is not "a signal" from the BD player.

The receiver interprets the data stream.

But does the receiver say "Dolby Atmos", like it would say "DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1" or does it say something else? I don't have any experience with it.

That depends on the AVR you buy.

The default is to play base 5.1(if we are talking a 7.1 AVR) and during cue, you select height speakers(this is in the owners manual of each AVR how to select Atmos off the base track).

The BD player, PERIOD, is set bitstream.

Which means the XBox1 can't be used for Atmos, as it can't bitstream. Or is it the PS4?

I forget...don't care. Buy a dedicated player for <$50.
