CULVER CITY, Calif. (Nov. 23, 2015) Woody Allens IRRATIONAL MAN will arrive on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD January 12 from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. This Sony Pictures Classics comedy-drama stars Joaquin Phoenix (Her) as Abe Lucas, a tormented new college philosophy professor, on a journey to find meaning in life. When he and his favorite student Jill Pollard, played by Emma Stone (Birdman: Or [The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance]), mistakenly overhear a strangers conversation, a chain of events is unleashed that permanently affect him and those around him.

Rounding out the stellar ensemble cast are Jamie Blackley (If I Stay) and Parker Posey (The House of Yes), playing Jills boyfriend and one of the schools chemistry professors, respectively.
IRRATIONAL MAN premiered at this years Cannes Film Festival and received many positive reviews there and upon opening theatrically. The Hollywood Reporters David Rooney said, The energy and freshness here are quite intoxicating. A darkly humorous quasi-thriller explored with a deft lightness of touch-- propelled all the way by the sparky chemistry of Joaquin Phoenix and Emma Stone.

Synopsis:
Soon after arriving to teach at a small town college, Abe Lucas (Joaquin Phoenix) gets involved with two women, Rita Richards (Parker Posey), a lonely professor who wants him to rescue her from her unhappy marriage; and Jill Pollard (Emma Stone), his best student, who becomes his closest friend. While Jill loves her boyfriend Roy (Jamie Blackley), she finds Abe's tortured, artistic personality and exotic past irresistible. Pure chance changes everything when Abe and Jill overhear a stranger's conversation and when Abe makes a profound choice, he is able to embrace life to the fullest again. But his decision sets off a chain of events that will affect him, Jill and Rita forever.

Was anyone able to find this in stores? I went to Walmart, Target, and Best Buy and none of them had this available. Best Buy at least had the DVD version, but no blu-ray. Wondering if this also comes with a slipcover...can anyone confirm?

Thanks for doing that legwork, I figured if Best Buy didn't have it a couple days ago, it wasn't looking good for the others. I checked B&N online a little bit ago and they indicate it's not in any of their stores around here either.

Pretty sad when you can't just go and grab the latest Woody Allen blu-ray...

Then again I might be about the only one around where I live that actually buys them...

(Gotta be a Sony thing...) Oh, and what a deal: 31.49 at amazon.

Wow...it was $24.99 at Amazon.com yesterday until they changed the price to $31.49 at 8:22 PM (CST). I wonder if Amazon is taking advantage of this considering no other stores have it. But then Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension is now $35.99

It felt like a mixture of Crimes and Misdemeanors, Manhattan Murder Mystery, and Scoop.

Would any kind soul mind checking if this release is region B compatible for me please? Sadly it's not getting a blu release in the UK and I'm not region free. If it's locked I'll get the Australian edition, but it would be cheaper and quicker to get this one. Thanks in advance!

Checked Walmart, Target, Best Buy, and even Barnes and Noble yesterday evening and still no blu-ray for this in store. I'm wondering if there is a shipment issue from the studio or something. Finally did manage to find a YouTube video that shows some pictures of this, and it indeed does come with a slipcover.

To answer your question, it seems like it's region A locked according to the back of the slipcover and blur-ray case.

Hi, I appreciate you taking the time to respond to my question, but what's printed on the slipcover/case isn't necessarily accurate. I have plenty of US Blu-rays with merely Region A written on the back that are also Region B friendly.

So if anybody is able to, please could you check if this is Region B compatible? Thanks.

My fault...I was not aware of that. How would one check if it is Region B compatible unless they own a Region B locked player themselves, and see if the Region A locked disc works?

I honestly don't know, but I presume that that's what they do. Thanks for trying anyway. I've sent a message to Woody Allen Pages asking if they know but they haven't responded. Oh well.

I watched this a few nights ago. IMHO it fell short of Midnight in Paris and Blue Jasmine.
