Default Multi CD Changer

Need some help deciding on a Multi Cd changer. 300 slots at least and able to have text display without me typing it in. I know nothing about CD players so any info would be great.

I have a 5-disc Sony that I rarely use anymore, now that I have my i-POD connected to my Yamaha dockable home-theater receiver. You can load all your favourite songs on the i-POD, encode the songs using Apple Lossless codec for best sound quality and you won't be able to tell the difference between the original CD and the i-POD version of the song.

You'll need a regular i-POD Classic (suggest 80 GB model), with it's large storage capacity rather than a Nano i-POD because the Apple Lossless files are much larger than typical MP3 files.

Besides, the CD disc changers are much slower when accessing tracks on different CD's.

My opinion is don't bother with a CD changer. They're obsolete.

Yeah it seems like thats the case. I have a sony MP3 player at the mo, best sound quality in an MP3 you can get, wouldn't touch an ipod again.

Pro and Con game.

CD-Changer = convenience.

The More Moving parts = Sound Degradation.

I'm kinda looking at the convenience side of it, with close to 300 cds it's a pain having to flick through em to play one, would rather just have em all loaded.

All I want is a good multi changer, that holds maybe 400 cds and has an ethernot port for doing the titles of cd.s, I didn't realise there actually wasn't anything that simple out there.

What about Apple TV? It makes an excellent audio streaming system. Mine's got 950 albums streaming to it.

Am I correct in saying you need to use itunes? Would really rather stay away from itunes

Whats the audio quality like though?

EDIT: Ok so I went and did a little reading and this sounds almost perfect for what I want. I currently have all my cds loaded to my PS3 but its taking up a hell of a lot of room and I like to blast music when playing some games that don't allow in game music. So something like apple tv sounds brilliant.

Just want to get my head around how it actually works though, so a few questions:

- I use itunes to sync up the apple tv box once I have loaded all my cds on, correct? and if I understand right you can transfer all the songs across to the actual HDD of the apple tv box too? and not have to keep itune and the pc open all the time?

- It has optical and HDMI hook ups? Can I have it set up so HDMI runs picture to the TV and optical to my receiver?

-Also can you transfer across album art too?

Anything I have missed that you feel is important to know would be very handy. FYI Video doesn't bother me I wont be using that feature at all.

If your audio library is smaller than the HDD on Apple TV, then all of it will transfer. If not, it will stream via Wi-Fi. Even lossless audio is no more than 1000Kbps, so it will work on a slow network. If all of your files are on Apple TV's HDD, then you do not need your computer on.
Yes, you can use optical audio for older receivers. The sound quality is great. Album artwork is supported, and can also be used as a screensaver.
Refurbished Apple TVs are in like new condition, and include a full one-year warranty at http://store.apple.com/ (scroll down for the refurbcished section).
Full access to the iTunes Store is also available, if you want to purchase music.

Brilliant. I don't have 160GB worth of music so the best thing would be stream it all over and not use the laptop. The cover is a deal sealer for me. I don't know why but I love being able to have the cover art there.

I would buy a refurbished one from there in a heartbeat. But I live in Aussie and they Apple don't ship world wide-wanks. Do you know if the power supply is universal?

Apple TV uses an internal power supply and what appears to be a standard power cable.
Apple offers free 600 x 600 artwork with an iTunes Store account. It will download automatically. You can also get high-resolution artwork at AlbumArtExchange.com.

That's about a buck a cd. Much more affordable than i would've thought for a 400disc CD/SACD changer. That's what i'd get if i were you. Or you could go through all the rigamarole of importing all your cd's to an ipod and then getting an ipod dock for your receiver and then still have it sound worse than the actual cd that you already have. Why? Because it's so CONVENIENT.
