Default 10 bit displays?

Hi guys

So I recently splurged on a 4K computer monitor, it's a budget 'Pro Grade' monitor

The LG 31MU97, as I understand it, it's meant for photo/video editors

I thought/think, that it being a 10 Bit display would mean that I would get a better image/colour reproduction on screen.

But then I read that the only way to utilize 10 bit, is to have a photo/video editing specific video card like the Nvidia Quadro or Firepro which cost $$$$ even used.

Yet I also read that regular 'gaming' or 'consumer' video cards can display 10 bit colour as well, but not the OpenGL 10 Bits*, that photo/video editors desire (*supposedly with some 'hacks' they can) but others say that's not a true 10 bit image rather it's extrapolated from an 8 bit feed so

Anyway, did I just waste some money on a monitor that I can't get 10 bit colour out of, unless I have professional video card?

I can still return it, so i'm considering it, the monitor looks so great though... and the pivot/height adjustment is sooo smoooth :/
