The Hateful Eight $27 million three-day ($35 million four-day)

Even though it's only getting 1,800 theatres for its expansion, the opening had a monster $45,000 PTA in 100 theatres so I think a $15,000 PTA on the three-day is possible.

The drop for the next week should be minimal as it adds 700 more theatres.

As for Star Wars, I estimate a drop of about 40%. So about $92 million or so.

Ouch, guess it opened worse than I expected if Daddy's Home beat it, looks like SW is finally starting to show wear on those legs though.

Those are very big numbers for Hateful Eight especially since it doesnt have any huge stars that can open a picture like Brad Pitt or Jamie Foxx/Leo

Yeah, because $95 million is absolutely horrible for a third weekend...

I remember reading on BOM that Eight could open up close to 25 million. I personally think it might do more than that, due to the kind of crowd Tarantino can pull in. I don't see it going beyond 40 million or something but I can see it opening up at number two. It'd certainly be more deserving of that spot than friggin' Daddy's Home.

My theater was extremely busy today. I saw In the Heart of the Sea and every seat was taken. I had to sit on the very end in front of th aisle. But I was able to get out of theater super quick so that was a plus.

Bullcrap. No way was every seat taken in any showing of in The Heart of the Sea since it opened a months ago.

Uh, my theater did the same thing. Every seat has been gone for Sisters and The Big Short too. Recliner seats = less audience and when big theaters sell out quickly people flock to another movie.

Not at all but the signs are there that the legs are getting a bit shaky, wouldn't be surprised at all if the day to day totals drop off drastically starting with the 11th. Hope this comes back substantially higher than estimates, Hateful 8 is a very good movie and deserves to do well, even against TFA.

I love how sisters only dropped 11%. That movie is hysterical and I'm glad it's selling tickets
