Default Screen flicker on movie

I just started watching The Driver (1978) on blu-ray. Whilst the movie plays fine I noticed some screen flickering throughout. This is the first movie i have played that does this. So not sure if the problem is with my setup or the blu-ray itself.

I tried some of the screen settings I in the blu-ray player setup. As outlined in this thread but that didn't help much as all.

Screen Settings > YCbCr/RGB (HDMI)
Set the colour space conversion for the video signak from HDMI

AUTO
YCbCr (4:2:2)
YCbCr (4:4:4)
RGB

Just wondring if anybody else had come across this problem when playing blu-rays. If so what would be the likely cause of this and how to fix.

While I haven't personally seen this film on BD yet, I think we can assume the flicker is part of the transfer. Some older films that haven't been restored with great care are prone to flicker, especially when there are wide vistas/skies...

It's worth clarifying what you mean by flicker, does the movie look like film from the silent era? or is the contrast going up and down? is the flickering at the exact same spot each time? if not it's possibly something to do with your display, reviews have mentioned the contrast goes up and down, it's possible that your display is reacted to that, make sure that all your TV's gizmos are turned off, you don't want Dynamic Contrast and other gadgets interfering. You can leave the YCbCr/RGb settings to Auto, but switch off Deep Colour if it's enabled, plus turn off any picture options with your player if you have any.

But as Bluyoda said, it might be the movie, try it on another player to see if it's just the transfer.

I'll try and explain it best I can.

Its like when you see some of the textures flicker between bright then back to normal on certain parts of the screen only when watching the blu-ray movie.

Unfortunately turning deep colour from auto to off did not help.

My only other player is bd-rom on pc and older tv connected via hdmi directly to tv. Both non 1080p screens but didn't notice the problem. So possibly likely something to do with my setup.

My setup is
Sony Blu-ray player > Marantz receiver > Sony 1080/24p LCD tv.

Reviews did mention that the transfer has some fluctuating contrast issues, but make sure your dynamic contrast settings and black levels are set to off, they maybe exacerbating the issue (especially if the issues you notice aren't in the same place each time).
