50 inch Panny Viera 800u VS Pioneer KURO PDP-5020FD

Ok, so I have a 768p 42" Panny Plasma at the moment. I'm picking up a PS3 for Blu-Ray, and I'm going to get a 1080p, LCD or DLP. I'm kind of unhappy with my current set's PQ. It's not bad, but.. nevermind...back on subject. I was looking into either

Any suggestions? Mainly will be used for Xbox 360/PS3 Games/Blu-Ray/HD Programming Via Dish.

Samsung 52A650 in my opinion. The Sony XBR5 are super good too but for the money you wont find a better 52inch LCD than the Samsung. The 650 is one of the top rated LCD's on pretty much every review site (check out cnet.com they give you a full review and video on it too)

The other Sony you have up there (not the XBR5) but the V series is a good tv but its Sony's lowest class 1080p LCD. Where as the Samsung 650 is their upper line of 1080p LCD's. It used to be one of the top then the started rolling out the 850's and 950's. But still the 650 is an amazing tv!!

And no to DLP. yes you get the most screen size for your dollar but DLP's are slowing phasing out. In my opinion the Samsung 650 is the most reasonable and best priced unit. Good luck

Stay far away from the LCD's unless you enjoy motion blur. Go with the 61" Samsung LED DLP. It is wonderful and blows everything else you have listed out of the water.

Its going to be quite a noticable difference. Over the years DLP's have made a tremendous improvement in picture quality but its still not up to par with the best lcd's and plasma's. The picture in the 650 is going to be brighter, have better contrast, and generally produce a better picture when properly calibrated. The DLP's are going to seem darker in picture, the whites wont seem as bright as the LCD, and the colors wont seem to stand out as much as they would on the LCD.

Plus LCD is generally the best choice for video games too

First, off I know.. I've seen them. There black levels are intense. Second I don't have $2000+ to shell out for a set, second I'm fed up with Phosphor Trailing on the plasma's since I game a lot and pan the camera around a lot. That's why I want LCD, or DLP.

I have not owned one, but I did consider it along with the Sony XBR5.

All LCD's have motion blur to some degree. Some just do a better job of hiding it. If you compare any current LCD to quality plasma or DLP...you will notice it.

I have yet to find an LCD which handles motion as well as a plasma or DLP.

By all means...if you enjoy motion blur and poor black levels...go with LCD. Otherwise you would be much better off with either plasma or DLP.

I saw my friends last year model, or the year before last years model and his 50" Samsung DLP, it LOOKS AMAZING with Blu-Ray.

I know, but I'd rather have Motion Blur than Phosphor Trailing with my current Plasma, and all plasma's have Phosphor Trailing too. Also, is Rainbow effect on DLP very distracting, or do some not have them?

If this is any indication...my first serious consideration over the course of many months of research was LCD. I was sold on the Sony XBR5 until I began to notice the motion blur. I then moved onto plasma and was sold on the Pioneer Kuro, but eventually passed do to the price and weight. I then settled on the 61" Samsung 1080p LED DLP. Having researched and tested various models and display technologies...I have never been happier with a purchase. I now have the perfect set. Yes, it isn't as thin as a flat panel but it is still very skinny. Perfect picture with no problems whatsoever.

No motion blur...
No phosphor trails...
No burn in...
No IR...

I have the sammy 52" a750 and I'm still in an awwwwe thats an awesome picture . And watching A BLUE-RAY is even more spectacular... The 650 is A good choice!!!!!
