Exclamation V for Vendetta loading forever

I just bought v for vendetta on blu-ray and i have been trying to make it play but it simply loads forever. It plays through the fbi warning and the warner bros. intro and then when it gets to the loading part, it just loads and loads and loads... I have played many other blu-rays successfully on my computer but this one seems to not be working. I have tried to find firmware updates, but i simply can't. It is for the philips PLD-DH-4b1s drive. It's really starting to irritate me because i really want to watch it but i seemingly can't. Please help! Much appreciated!

I've got the Samsung BD-P1000 and have the same problem. I contacted Samsung because this player won't play any new discs. I had to buy a PS3 so I will be able to play new movies. I will never purchase another Samsung Blu Ray player again. Welcome to the world of "Lack of Firmware Updates"

It's a shame that Samsung puts all their focus into their TVs, and none into their BD players

Install Anydvd HD software should resolve your problem.

buy a PS3

I would say it's still a firmware issue. My guess would be the BD-J on the menus is why it will not go to the menu screen.

to jianhuang: how would this help? Can anyDVD HD help with the playback? Because i don't want to have to rip it. or else i wouldn't have bought the movie.

to beefbowl: so i guess i should just wait for a firmware update... because i just found out that i can't return it... And i'm pretty sure that it isn't an issue with the disk anyway.

Oh here is an update... I riped the movie to my computer using anydvdhd, and guess what... It still gets stuck on the loading screen; which i think answers a question or two. First, because it was successfully ripped, and it is still screwed up that could mean that either my software that i use to play it (powerDVD DX) is the problem, or the disk is screwed up. I found out that i could actually get it replaced through amazon and the replacement will be here tomorrow. So if it still doesn't work then that means that it had to be powerDVD DX... right? let me know what you think of this update please. Thanks!

oh and i still can't believe that i can only get the firmware updates through dell, and not through philips. What's up with that? I can't even find the PLDS DH-4B1S on their web site, and on liteon's website (i don't know how they are related) i could find it but the drivers were much older than the ones on dell's website. why is that???

It's probably dell-branded. They sometimes create their own serial #'s for the components that go in their machines. You may want to see if someone has figured out that it's just a rebadged model and see if you can update the firmware that way.

YES! I finally figured it out! I knew it wasn't likely that it was the disk, and that it really couldn't have been the drive (after i ripped the movie and then tried to play it and it still didn't work). I downloaded cyberlink powerdvd 8 (i was using version 7) and BAM it worked perfectly. Too bad i have to send in the disk as i already set up an exchange with amazon, although i'll be getting the replacement tomorrow it's just an added hastle. thanks so much for all your comments!

Dont mean to resurrect an old thread but i have exactly the same problem.
Am running PowerDVD 8 Ultra with latest updates as far as i can tell (from the website), and have a GGW-H20L drive with the YL5 (latest) firmware.

Also tried anydvd hd but no luck

Any known solutions?

Thanks

Ok my apologies -- The flashing of my drive didnt apply correctly had my firmware version as ? -- so a retake made it work.
Thanks anyways
