It's hard to call what he did "filmmaking" in the first place.

The world needs guys like him as much as it needs guys like Spielberg and Tarantino.

I never thought it was fair to call Uwe Boll a "bad" filmmaker, because he was very good at making "bad" films. He didn't screw up films that were supposed to be good, like so many do. His movies were exactly what they set out to be.

There's a kind of nobility in that as far as I'm concerned.

There is no nobility in making abysmal films, whether on purpose or not. It's like priding yourself on being a bad student.

And you're also wrong. Use has explicitly tried to make good films. He's claimed his films are better than spielbergs. Uwe is just a bad writer and director. That is all.

Uwe Boll got a bit better as he went along. He was better with his own material than the video game adaptations - especially the "Rampage" series. Still, this isn't really a great loss.

Not really a fair comparison. Trank has only directed two movies so far - Chronicle which is better than anything Boll has ever done, and Fantastic Four which was bad but could have been decent without all the studio interference.

I have to admit the Rampage films are guilty pleasures as a one time watch. You said it perfectly, he was better with his own material. He should have stayed away from video game adaptations.
