Default Best 52-55" LCD?

It's always been a Sony vs Samsung battle for me. Samsung tends to tickle my fancy more, but I also like Sony products. However, I've been out of the market for a while now. I was wondering what the best 52 to 55" LCD HDTV is right now? Any opinions?

same .. tough choice, theyre both so nice. i tend to like samsungs a bit better theyre more stylish around the house, but when going that large i think LCD would be a bad option. try panny plasmas or poineer.

Yeah, I heard plasmas were the new best thing. I just don't know. With all the burn-in theories (and the fact I tend to leave my stuff on for long periods of time), I'm worried about it's reliability. It's one those things I'm having troubles forcing myself to trust.

If you are going LCD, I would say the new Sony 55" XBR8 when it is released. I have always preferred Sony over Samsung. They are actually the same screens, although the electronics inside the TV are different, and Sony has had a lot more time than Samsung to fine tune them and make them better.

If your talking the Series 5, 6, & 7 of the Samsungs v the S, V, W series of the Sonys, I would say PQ is almost the same, but you will tend to get more out of the Samsungs as far as options. So Samsung are prolly better here. If you are looking at the Series 7, 8, 9 v the Z and XBR, then I say that Sony comes out on top. Although, many of the comparisons of LCD v Plasma are done using Samsungs.

Mainly it comes down to personnal preference in most cases, but IF I had $3000 for an LCD, I would go Sony XBR.
