Yes, I don't think it is wrong for multi-part films to end with cliffhangers. Fellowship Of The Ring ended with Boromir dying and Merry and Pippin being captured. Star Wars was called a trilogy from the start, so you know that each movie will have its own resolution at the end.

Now I know this is a 2 part film and I'm not claiming that I've watched every movie ever released but in every movie which has a sequel or more than 1 sequel, I'm pretty sure none of them have had a ending in this manner. Sure there'll be some unanswered questions but in the end the director makes sure that the main plot of the film is solved and finished.

Imagine this - in Star Wars Episode 5, the director could have chosen to end the film during the moment that
[Show spoiler]Darth Vader was Luke's dad
was revealed and we would have our minds be in state of question as to whether Luke would join him or not before the release of the seuqel. Or in Batman Begins, Christopher Nolan could have chosen to ended it when they reveal that Ra's Al Ghul was not who Bruce thought he was or the fact that he's still alive. Something like that. It just seems like a cheap advertising trick to just make sure you come back and watch the sequel, the sort of stuff that they do in most Indian soaps, ending the daily episode with "To be continued".

Hope you understood what I said here. I wished he could have ended part 1 with the info on why Kattapa (Sathyaraj's character) killed the king and then left the other stuff to be filmed in the sequel. I'm saying this because I came out of the theatre pissed at Rajamouli for making me wait another 2ish years to know a small crucial piece of info that could have easily been revealed during the end minutes of the film.
As much as I like Baahubali, it is not one of the top 10 memorable movies for me. The story is not much as the focus was mostly on the battle scene. So although I did not like the way they ended the movie it did not piss me off. The ending for Avatar is a nice one, where the movie concluded but you know there is a sequel and you want to watch it. They did not plan to have two parts for Baahubali as the script was written for just one, this explains why they could not find a better point to end the movie and yet keep the audience interested for the second part.

As long as they release the part 2 by December 2016 i will be happy. They have to release by then as the director confidently included the year at the end of the movie for Part 2.

May be I will walk out of the theater for refund as soon as I find out why Katappa killed Prabhas and I don't like the reason.
Cineplex theaters actually issue refunds for the first 30 to 45 minutes of all movies. I once left after an hour later and they said they can't refund but gave me a free movie coupon. The reason I gave was the movie was very boring and depressing.

That's bending over backwards to please your patrons. If you watch the whole film and find it boring / depressing do they give you free popcorn and cola?

I will let you know what happens if I try it

I only walked out of the theater twice within 30 minutes, and once about an hour later in 15 years. On average I watch 25 movies per year, so that's only 0.8%. If a theater has it in their policy to refund, there's nothing wrong in using it. It was just a suggestion as NilFBosh seemed very upset with Baahubali Part 1 ending.

I had many weird experiences in theaters. When watching "The Grey" the audio went off for 5 minutes. At the end of the movie every one got a refund.
Recently I went to "The Martian" Thursday 7pm show and there was some problem that delayed the movie for 45 minutes. Everyone was given a free movie coupon after the movie. I got two coupons as I had to cancel watching "The Walk" in IMAX scheduled back to back, which was refunded as well.
Once (when watching The Da Vinci Code), the entire theater lost power due to something related to power blowing up outside, everyone was given two free movie coupons. This was a time when not many people had smartphones and the emergency lights were not working for the most part so you can imgine how hard it was for us to get out of there.

Sorry if it came across like that, I didn't mean to suggest that your behaviour was inappropriate (unless you regularly did it ), but it's great to see such levels of customer service. Out in Mumbai we're used to scenarios where cinemas to cut costs shut off the air-conditioning during the last show and there's nothing like getting a refund unless there's a power failure or some such mishap on the part of the cinema which led to a screening getting disrupted.

I don't expect any refunds in India ... once the money leaves your hand, it's gone forever

The last time I visited India I went to a theater that had reclining seats (two rows at the back). I watched two movies there with three cousins.
I bought the tickets online in advance but one of my cousins got sick so he couldn't make it. I asked if I can cancel the ticket and get refund as there is still about 30 minutes to the movie but the cashier refused to do anything. I had plans to see two more movies with three people each time, that's 8 tickets. But because I could not cancel one ticket, I never bought the other 8 tickets ... they just don't understand anything about customer satisfaction. If you keep a customer happy (reasonably), they come more and more often thus driving the business.

Another nuisance I can't deal with is the security, they search me like I am hiding a bomb - even after they make me walk through the metal detector gates twice (building main entrance & theaters floor entrance) and scan me with that metal detector the guard holds. Why the hell do they need to search with hand. I am not kidding when I say, I was searched more at the theater than the airport

May be you can demand a compensation of the sorts SRK demanded when he faced an airport security thing a while back - 'as a compensation for the torture, i would like to frisk angelina jolie'

Man I am so jealous of you right now !! I am totally shocked there are theatres that exist with this level of care for customers in this country !! that was really something. I on the other hand am probably in the most overpriced for movie tickets city in the whole country with no care for profesional audio visual experience whatsoever.

In September last year, we heard about Baahubali confirmed to release in China.
Its been five months since that announcement, and the movie still does not have a release date in China.

The blu-ray release wait is just ridiculous at this point and as always, the Telugu studios are being sloppy with the management of home video. Its almost like if people miss watching a popular movie in theater, there is a 90% chance that the movie will never make it to official home video (DVD or Blu-ray).

This has nothing to do with the producers, though. The Chinese distributors set local release dates

Baahubali release in China is finally confirmed for May and it is releasing in over 6000 screens. That is higher than the combined total of Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam screens in India and all overseas screens when it released last year.

At this rate of screens it has the potential to beat PK to easily become the biggest Indian movie of all time worldwide. It is already the biggest movie in terms of boxoffice revenue in India.

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/e...5.cms?from=mdr

It also appears that Rajamouli will miss the deadline to have part 2 released by Dec 2016. They ended Baahubali with a huge font covering the whole screen stating 2016 for Baahubali 2. Its fine for them to release it in 2017, but they shouldn't commit to a date and announce it on screen like that if there was a chance that they would fail meeting their target date.

Interview with the Producer and Director last week:

At the fag end of the interview they talk about the release date of the next part. They probably might have had some unforeseen circumstances which could have caused the delay. A tad difficult to factor in everything so which is why they might have announced the date at the end of the first part of the movie because they were confident of it at that point in time.

Who is still waiting for this

Seems like the producer, director and the home video companies forgot about this Blu-ray.
If the Blu-ray doesn't release, I will pirate Baahubali 2 in a year from now and save over $100 in theater costs. I will not let the movie make money from my pocket in theater if it doesn't think Home Video is important.

To be frank I lost hopes on Telugu movies getting released on Home Video (Either Blu-Ray/PPV). Not sure why they stopped releasing movies all of a sudden.

Good news for all who are - like me - eagerly waiting for a original telugu bluray of Baahubali:

A bluray of Baahubali with the original uncut Telugu version will release 27th of may in Germany.

It is a mediabook (3 discs, Bluray, DVD and booklet inside) with Telugu and German language and german subtitles. (Not to confuse with the normal german Bluray in Amaray case [only 1 disc] which is the shorter international cut with german and hindi language!!!)

I got the information from the distributor's website:
http://splendid-film.de/bahubali-the-beginning

Finally, excellent news! When it releases, be sure to list all the websites where it will sell. Although a small concern about it not having English subtitles. Will the audio and video be exactly the same length as it was in the Hindi Bluray?

@goldensun
Well, I am also not happy with the german subtitles, but it is a german DVD release. I am also used to english subs, although I am german. But hey, the language is telugu, and that is much better than the hindi dub version, a german dub version or a whatever dub version.
What do you mean with "be sure to list all the websites where it will sell"?

@cyberworld + @ goldensun
Neither do I have any connection to the distributor nor have I any information more than what is written on their website 'till now. The runtime you can see on the website. As I have written, don't confuse this mediabook edition with the normal bluray.

The normal bluray (BD) has german and hindi language and a runtime of 138 min. ... so that is the shorter international cut, i guess.

But there is a MEDIABOOK as well (when you click on "Blu-Ray", you can choose "BD" or "Blu-Ray Mediabook") As written on the cover of the mediabook: it includes a Bluray and a DVD with the international cut and IN ADDITION a bluray with the indian long version. On the right you see: two sound tracks ... german and telugu (german subs) with a runtime of 159 min. ... so that should be the original telugu theatre version of the movie.
