I want to watch it in the XD session, but, I want to know if it's worth for this film (I loved the books) or if XD/IMAX is better for action films.
Every movie should be seen on the biggest screen possible.

1) I know. All I'm saying is which film format is superior.

2) You haven't seen what the new Zeiss Master Anamorphics can do then.

3) Why not? That's a problem?

I didn't saw any film in IMAX, yet.
Waiting for Mad Max: Fury Road or any other film I want to see, that's going to be shown in IMAX.
But, I saw Fifty Shades of Grey in a Cinemark XD screen and I loved it (the film and the XD screen, it was my first experience with a XD screen). It was great, audio and video quality were awesome and the screen was much bigger than the normal screen.

What are some good films coming out in spring or summer to see on IMAX? I've never seen one but plan to travel 2 hours to a real IMAX screen. I'd like to see one with the best possible presentation. There are no ETX or Prime screens around me. I just looked.

I believe the only feature-length film coming up with scenes in native IMAX (that will hit domestic theatres) will be Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice (since producer Christopher Nolan is a big 15/70 supporter). I thought Mission: Impossible 5 would but it's not listed as having scenes filmed in the format.

Thread needs updating, having finally experienced Laser IMAX I can say it trounces every other picture I've ever seen in the cinema. Even if they show a movie filmed entirely with 35mm film and shown in scope, the stunning black levels and contrast ratio make this by far the best picture out there.

It's also capable of projecting the full 70mm AR, so when you see Star Wars you get the same expanded picture as Interstellar, just obviously far less in terms of running time...but even without the 70mm scene in SW I would still without hesitation recommend it as the #1 way to see the movie. It really needs to be seen to be believed.

IMAX is usually a disapointment period.

I would take any of the other premium/large screen auditoriums that theaters have now (RPX, Cinemark XD, etc) over proper IMAX.

To me the added screen height is at best a waste, and at worst a distraction

I enjoyed XD until I noticed at the location I usually frequent has weird distortion/aliasing/scaling issues, now I avoid that particular installation.

Never seen this thread before but I agree with the OP. I don't support IMAX unless it utilizes IMAX shot sequences. Ghost Protocol and Interstellar were meant to be seen in IMAX and I'm so glad I did.

Interstellar was meant to be seen in 65mm glory, and I'm so glad I did.

They should know, its one of their flagship locations next door to their corp office. If I go again and it still hasnt been fixed, ill let them know. Its definitely been that way over a year or two.

I even travel to see films in full IMAX film projection, whether it is Interstellar, or the documentaries. Seing Jerusalem 3D and others on dual or even single 15/70 is amazing; I even enjoy the dome experience from time to time.

wait, you saw this at the one in Plano?

I've seen several movies there and never noticed it. I'm gonna be looking out for it now though.

Ive noticed its apparent during bright scenes or with fine edges - look to the upper right quadrant of the screen.

I wear eyeglasses.

Regular 3-D does little for me.

Imax 3-D is much, much better.

I enjoy 3D a lot. Unfortunately, here in Singapore, most of the 3D cinemas are crap. And the best 3D experience happens to be the only decent IMAX 3D cinema.

Otherwise, I'll settle for Dolby Atmos any day.
