Default Do not see a movie in IMAX unless it was made for it.

It's also capable of projecting the full 70mm AR, so when you see Star Wars you get the same expanded picture as Interstellar, just obviously far less in terms of running time...but even without the 70mm scene in SW I would still without hesitation recommend it as the #1 way to see the movie. It really needs to be seen to be believed.
In most part, this is true of even 2K IMAX. I couldn't imagine sitting in a regular room when IMAX is right next door.

Revenant was excellent in IMAX. I was going to skip it in theater until I saw IMAX was doing a limited release and went out to see it right away.

The brightness alone makes it worth it.

---

I finally went to the Minnesota Zoo for The Force Awakens. First time I've been there since they replaced their 70mm projector with 2K (tears of agony).

I laughed a bit when I realized the projected image is just in the middle of the 'classic' screen. It didn't even go all the way to the sides. Probably 6-8 feet away from each side.

Still bigger than AMC Digital IMAX, and after the movie started I forgot all about it; but this is the type of brand dilution that could kill IMAX. They should have held out for correct aspect Laser that would have at least filled the screen.

I still pleaded with them to get Laser (like I did before they inexplicably went 2K.)

---

Arbitrarily boycotting IMAX simply because it wasn't filmed with IMAX cameras is just ignorance. People that choose to do that are just needlessly punishing themselves.

While all 3d is 2k, seeing it in a real IMAX screen is not great stuff

IMO there's absolutely nothing special about 2K IMAX compared to a good normal screen, and when you consider IMAX's so-called "remastering" and the upcharge it is absolutely best avoided unless all of your regular theaters really suck.

Lol. Are you blind?

I'll take dual 2K LIMAX over Sony 4K in a regular room any day.

It's your money to waste. Again, there is absolutely nothing special about it. I don't know what projectors they're running but my nice Cinemark has projection that simply looks better - and they don't mess with the movie.

Brighter. Bigger. Next?

I also really like the Barco 4K projectors. Looks great in the Showplace ICON Atmos room.

Yes. Tasty. Let the deliciousness flow through you.

I think 'IMAX DMR' is a pretty big crock of marketing BS, but I don't think I've ever seen it negatively affect a movie.

3D is particularly egregiously dark in 'RealD' on those Sony 4K projectors. When watching a 3D film, IMAX is particularly excellent.
