I was curious if anyone has ever heard anything about Blu-Ray releases of some of Steve's early Films.
It seems a lot of his early efforts are not on the Studios' Radar at all... and the some of the ones that have been released, like The Jerk, are a bit of a disappointment... but after that there is a big gap. The Man with Two Brains (1983), The Lonely Guy (1984), All of Me (1984), L.A. Story (1991), Bowfinger (1991) are all Faves of mine, and some of those (like All Of Me) have never even been released in their Original Aspect Ratio. |

The Man with Two Brains (1983) @ Warner Bros. -it could pop-up as an warner Archive release
DEAD MEN DON'T WEAR PLAID @ Universal, has the possibility Shout! could license it. The Lonely Guy (1984)@ Universal, has the possibility Shout! could license it. All of Me (1984) @ Lionsgate, don't hold your breath! L.A. Story (1991) @ Lionsgate, don't hold your breath! Bowfinger (1991) @ Universal, I can see this one coming soon with all catalog stuff coming from themselves. ![]() |

I'm personally hoping to upgrade all of these at some point (have The Jerk already, need the other two):
![]() Also, Sgt. Bilko's always been one of my top guilty pleasures. I still think it's hilarious. |

I agree that these films are shockingly overlooked for Blu Ray release globally.
I bought "Dead Men" from Italy http://www.amazon.it/Dead-Men-Dont-W...A11IL2PNWYJU7H But would love to see "All of Me" and "Man with Two Brains" released somewhere. |

Yes, it's a shame, and it's not just Steve Martin films either.
UHD is nearly here, yet there are tons of movies still not released on BD, and equally many released with ancient DVD era masters and/or lossy Dolby Digital soundtracks. ![]() |

I have to agree. I was skeptical because initially I thought it might be a bootleg, but it's actually a pretty decent transfer. The only bummer is that the Italian version is Dolby 5.1, and the English version is Dolby 2.0. This is still one of my favorite Martin movies along with Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.

As for the picture quality of the disc, I was pleasantly surprised despite this being a MPEG-2 encode. You can definitely see the film stock quality fluctuation between the various clips, which was less evident on the DVD. This is undoubtedly due to better resolution on the BD presentation and thus makes them more obvious. DVDBeaver has a review of this disc and some screen captures so you can see for yourself. Whether the company that has released the BD (Pulp Video) is legit, well I don't really know. Never heard of them, and you won't get much help from google either. |
