I looked at the top 200 collected titles on Blu-ray.com and there's not one title included from last year. Almost the same for 2014, only two titles made it and they are ranked near the bottom: "Frozen" and "Ghostbusters 1 & 2". Even 2013 only had 7 titles in the top 200. I don't know what to make of this data. Is it that more people are purchasing new titles as digital downloads? Is Netflix contributing to the decline of Blu-ray purchasing?
Here are The Top 200 collected Blu-ray titles (with BD release date): [Show spoiler]

There weren't a whole lot of titles that are going to be bought in massive numbers. The top candidates are probably MM: Fury Road, Jurassic World, and Inside Out. I don't think digital is to blame, it just takes time to crack the list. Plus, the titles on the list are still being bought too, and probably faster than newer releases, making it harder for newer titles to surpass any.

Also consider some of the best releases all came out later in the year. They've been on the market for less than 6 months. That's without a doubt a factor.
Fury Road has 3,184 since Sept. 1st Jurassic World 2,701 simce Oct. 20th Inside Out 2,174 since Nov. 3rd Another factor is every major movie had a 3D release too, which will no doubt dilute the number. |

That's a valid point. Guardians of the Galaxy had 3 major releases: regular, 3D, and Steelbook. If you total those sets in the collections, it would crack the top 200.

Obviously, the time a title has been released has a large bearing on the statistics. Older titles have been out in the market longer, giving people a larger window in which to pick them up. They would also have gone through more price drops and sales cycles.
A more accurate report would be recording year-by-year statistics, then comparing how many members have added a title when released on Date X on Date X+365 days. In other words, use an identical metric for an apples-to-apples comparison. Last edited by tezster; 01-25-2016 at 06:40 PM. Reason: typo |

Regular edition: 4,451 Target Steelbook: 1,263 Walmart Neo case: 1,243 Best Buy: 332 Total: 7,289 That would place Interstellar at #92 on the list |
