Anyone else have a local WM going out of business? I realized today after seeing a post by bigjim25 in the Target thread that a store about 30 miles from me is one that is closing. This doesn't effect us much since there are a ton of other Walmarts around here but it is unfortunate for small towns that had all their small businesses pushed out when WM came in.

Since today was the last day everything in the store was 75% off. Spent a good 2 hours digging through bins and came out with a pretty good haul:



Got all those for ~$60 plus tax. I also couldn't resist Darth for $2.50.

I was surprised to read that Walmart was offering these discounts at their closing stores. I figured they would just move the product to other stores or to the new stores they're supposed to be opening.

Seems strange to me that they're offering such deep discounts in an effort to get rid of stuff.

But nice haul, trainreck.

I went back today and bought a bunch of stuff I would never bought for full price but for 75% off I said why not. Got The Walk 3D for $6 and Back To The Future cartoon set for $8.74 plus some other blurays, dvds, and cds. $250+ for 63 items Saved over $700

Unfortunately neither of the two Walmarts in my town are closing.

The two stores closest to me are staying open (though one of them barely counts, as they have a super-small media selection except on BF).

The next three stores, which I've only gone to maybe twice total, are/were all closing. One of those closed on Sunday after getting the news Friday, so I doubt there was time for a sale. And if there were, it would have been like BF madness to liquidate a fully stocked store in a weekend.

Based on the news reports, I'd thought that they all closed like that, but it seems to be an exception. A quick look at yelp tells me that today is the last day for the other two. But a trip report makes it clear that at least one of those stores (with a 75% discount) is pretty well wiped out.

If I'd followed the situation more closely, and not assumed based on the news reports, then I would have gone sooner, but at this point I don't think I'll make the drive. Congrats to bigjim25 and trainreck though!

I haven't seen it either. I actually wasn't planning to get it but when I found one copy I figured for $5.50 it was worth the blind buy.

I finally watched it. I liked it pretty good, still prefer the first one. I had to pay $9.96 but it came with $5 VUDU plus I sold UV for $5

At the beginning of the year the one closest to me was closed. The minimum wage was increased a good amount in my city and this particular Walmart decided it didn't want to pay their workers any more money so they decided to close that particular store...
