Fess Parker was a great actor, sadly he got typecast as Davy, and didnt do that much acting after.
Luckily he was smart and invested his money in a vineyard/winery, that's where he made his retirement money on, now bring on the Great Locomotive Chase in its glorious widescreen spendor! ![]() another one who has success with a wine line is Francis Ford Coppola. Though that means we might not see The Cat From Outer Space till 2018, and it's too late for a 35th Anniversary this year for The Spaceman and King Arthur |

I ordered this, but won't get it for about a week. Have any forum members received it who can confirm what aspect ratio Disney went with? Original episodes were broadcast in 1.33:1, but OTR for these were cropped widescreen to 1.75:1. Also curious how the picture quality is.

Only if they stick with their model of only releasing films when they have anniversaries. With The Black Hole, I could see them trying to get it out sooner because of fan interest and they could use it as a promo for Star Wars since DMC can't sell those films due to Fox's disc distribution rights.

I just watched the Davy Crockett Blu-Ray release. What a disappointment. Not the PQ. The PQ is superb and is clearly better than the DVD. But they made it widescreen (1.66:1). This was filmed in 4:3 for television. This means they cut off a little bit of the top and bottom and bottom to make the widescreen presentation. Even worse, unlike the Leonard Maltin DVD release, they failed to provide the unedited versions. Admittedly, what is shown is probably what was originally aired when this was shown on TV, but what was shown on TV was an edited version to allow for commercials, which cuts out a lot.
So, now, when I watch these films I have to make a choice between fantastic PQ or better content. All I know if that I'm glad I have the Walt Disney Treasures Version, which is no longer available. |

If you have this one then you have the full version. Since you said "two movies" I am assuming you have the first. They were not originally released as two movies. The original was released as 5 movies. |

I believe there were two DVDs: the Treasures DVD, containing the 5 original broadcast episodes, running ~54 minutes each (inclusive of the Disneyland opening/credits and Walt Disney intro) and the two-movie set (which according to DVDizzy run 93 and 81 minutes respectively). I can't comment on the differences since I only have the Treasures DVD. |
