Germany NIGHT OF THE DEMON - Blu-ray/DVD Set from Anolis Entertainment

After our huge success of releasing classic genre films from the fifties under the “banner” GALLERY OF TERROR we did an even more successful follow-up that was subsequently called THE RETURN OF THE GALLERY OF TERROR.

And I am very proud to announce that from February we will start the third series, which is called – You guessed right – THE REVENGE OF THE GALLERY OF TERROR.

And we start off with an absolute cult classic: Jacques Tourneur’s NIGHT OF THE DEMON

I’m guessing everybody is familiar with the movie, so I won’t bore you with the synopsis, but rather concentrate on what will make this release a must-have for all collectors:

Not only will the film be released on Blu-ray and DVD (both are included in the set) and both discs will include the longer UK version and the slightly different edited US-Version, but we managed to get a couple of bonus elements that you will – to my knowledge – not have seen on any other release.

Here is the full list

- commentary track with filmhistorian Dr. Rolf Giesen and Uwe Sommerlad (German)
- dokumentary „Speak of the Devil“ (featuring lead actress Peggy Cummins and productiondesigner Sir Ken Adam)
- Super-8-version
- British theatrical trailer
- reproduction of the program of the Braunschweig Filmfestival (who had hosted a Jacques Tourneur retrospective) (german text)
- picture gallery
- 20-page Booklet written by Uwe Sommerlad (german text)

I am proud beyond believe that we managed to license the documentary, that was produced by Hammer historian Marcus Hearn, and which to my knowledge has never seen the light of day before.

NIGHT OF THE DEMON will be released on the 26th. February 2016 and comes together with a box that offers space for the other 9 titles that are part of the REVENGE OF THE GALLERY OF TERROR. The edition with the box is limited to 1300 units. But after those are sold out we will continue to sell the Blu-ray/DVD set of NIGHT OF THE DEMON without the box.

Looks great, can't wait to see which titles make up the rest of the series! Is there any possibility of English subtitles for the commentary track?

Happy to discover that The Giant Claw and War of the Satellites are among the remaining nine titles!

Suddenly I'm glad I never picked up the French BD. Will wait to see what people say about the PQ/AQ on this.

This appears to have German text on the cover, surely making it worthless to you

I'm curious as to how this will compare to the PQ on the French release.

Color me intrigued.

Were the GALLERY OF TERROR and RETURN OF THE GALLERY OF TERROR boxes Blu-ray too, or DVD? I notice the label name isn't yet loaded into the database, though I'd certainly like to see a list of what other titles (in addition to the Hammer films) they have released.

Edit: I found their Facebook page and website, so I guess those will be good places to start my research.

No, those two boxes were DVD-only. Even the third box is not completely fitted with Blu-rays. A couple of titles will be DVD-only as well.

We released several other titles on Blu-ray in the last 2 years. Among it

- TOWER OF EVIL (with an amazin on-stage interview with Robin Askwith)
- EL DIA DE LA BESTIA (Day of the Beast) by Alex de la Iglesia (as far as I know the first Blu-ray worldwide at that time)
- CANNIBAL GIRLS (by Ivan Reitman)
- RING 1, 2, 0 + SPIRAL (including an exclusive ENGLISH SPEAKING commentary for 1, 2 + 0)
- THIEF OF BAGDAD
- 13 EERIE (recent canadian zombie film featuring a short by the same director that - to my knowledge has also never been released before)
- TiMER (rom-com)

An admin can contact me and tell me whom I should provide what kind of info in order to update the database.

Ivo,

going by the product picture you posted, the Blu-ray comes in a DVD keep case. Will the Blu-ray that will be sold at a later date (once the initial run of 1300 copies/w. box is gone) come in a regular Blu-ray case?

Thanks.

No, at least not for now. At the moment we will continue selling the same product (Blu-ray/DVD-Combo) just simply without the box.

Depending on how the sales goes, we might produce a Blu-ray only edition.

The pre-sale started today and it seems by tomorrow the box will be sold out. BUT: That only means that big quantities were shipped to all the dealers.

So for international orders I would normally advise to shop from Amazon.de, but they take some time to list the box and might be more expensive then the rest of the dealers. So for now I would point you to

http://shop.dtm.at/product_info.php?products_id=61120

an austrian shop that has good prices for the items themselves, But their shipping rate is quite high.

So is Amazon.de already sold out too? It says 'currently unavailable'. Or have they not received pre-order stock yet? The shipping is a mind-boggling 27 Euros at D&T, but that may be my only option, although they also say 'not available'. Sheesh! That was quick. Damn, I really wanted this set.

No dealer hast yet received their stock. This is why it says "not available" on the D&T website. So you can order from them. They usually delete the product when it is sold out.

Thanks, I decided to spring for D & T's price-gouging, as I didn't want to miss out completely. For anyone who has ordered from them before, if Amazon.de does get this in-stock, is it difficult to cancel a D & T order?

Also, Ivo, will the Demon commentary have English subtitles?

Ivo, this sounds like a great release.

Can you please try and provide subtitled English text for German commentary tracks/extras in future releases?

Remember, a lot of English speaking fans will buy this release. Would be good to make it English friendly as well.
