Default Adobe chooses Blu-ray High Definition format

With the variety of new, lower-cost HDV video cameras on the market today, just about any event videographer can afford to shoot in high definition. Recent versions of popular NLEs have been upgraded to handle HDV editing, and most new editing systems can handle the processing demands associated with HDV postproduction. Unfortunately, due to the format war between HD DVD and Blu-ray, the video production world has been waiting for a solution to deliver HD content to their clients, and fit the technology into their workflow the way DVD Studio Pro has integrated with Final Cut Pro, DVD Architect with Vegas, and Encore DVD with Premiere Pro. And in the absence of HD DVD burners up to this point, most of us are waiting for an answer from the Blu-ray side.
It appears the wait may be over, with software giant Adobe selecting Blu-ray as their format choice for delivery of HD video in the new CS3 version of Encore, which debuts in July with the release of Adobe CS3 Production Premium. Here’s a quick walkthrough of Blu-ray Disc workflow in Encore CS3.

the big Q:
HD DVD promotional group where are the burners..?
this is more of an indication that HD DVD is going to fall short for support once again first movie content support, now on the PC IT software side

The game's over, they just stopped watching long ago... they just sit in their own cave and talk amongst themselves.

They're content with making everyone burn HD material onto SD DVDs with Ulead, etc...

This is exactly why i chose Blu over the other. The HD-DVD supporters are so quick to say, why you need all that space? You can't fill that with movie and extras Blah Blah.
Well, i happen to also be into High res photography, audio and it will just be a matter of time before i upgrade my video camera to a HD one. Guess where i work with, and store all this stuff? My pc. Currently tape backup and DVD are just not big enough any longer. I now have large Hard drive where i back everything up but i don't trust this. I need a different medium to backup my photos, music and video. For me the extra storage space provided by Blu-Ray is very important and i see this as the next medium for my needs.
I would hope others in the computer, music and PC industry see this also.

Remember, Blu-Ray won't just be for movies.
Don't be short sighted like those silly HD-DVD supporters.

I think the real reason for the Adobe support is that there is HARDWARE to support - that is BD burners and blank media. It's not just from one CE but from many CEs. That is the key. Hopefully Adobe would support the authoring of BD-9 discs as well for short projects/music videos.

Yep. Just one of the many reasons for me as well.

The battle has been long lost in regards to the computer environment... The size issue alone seals it.

Now, adoption to general environment for PC, harder to say, and something I expect to follow the gaming community [to be honest] when we start seeing PC/Mac games on 4+ DVDs to necesitate a size jump to BD.

I'm already getting excuses from HD DVD fanboys elsewhere that since Adobe was a member of the BDA, that this is no biggy. I went ahead and used that logic to show how Apple is going Blu-ray exclusive since they are on the Board of Directors...which of course they didn't like.
