Post Miracle at St. Anna...

Now that Miracle at St. Anna has been released, and Spike Lee finally has a World War II story of his own under his belt, that racist douche can NOW shut the hell up once and for all about the great Clint Eastwood not having any black soldiers in Flags of Our Fathers and Letters from Iwo Jima!

Enough said.

The trailers on TV made this movie look really good and made me want to see it but the review of this movie I read has made me hold off. It says that Spike has no grasp on the reality of WW2. I agree , his Clint Eastwood comment was way off base

Here's yet another reason for me to avoid the megaplex. I don't do Spike Lee movies any longer. Period.

Flags and Letters are far more superior in my opinion. Hell, he's even gunna make Inside Man 2. Inside Man doesn't even need a sequel. I thought the movie was good, but still, he's pushin' it.

If Spike Lee did not try and slam Clint (and generally be a jerk his whole life), I would be paying to see it. As it is, I hope it loses money and Spike ends up on the street.

It's a shame when directors have no sense of historical base. I will not be seeing this movie either, even though the previews left me kind of intrigued.

3.5 wow that's horrible lol. The movie looks good...but after the reviews I've heard and the almost 3 hour time frame...I'd rather rent it.

Exclamation Spike Lee fends off partisan attack 'Miracle' blasted in Italy as misrepresentation

Now Spike's gone and pissed off some of the Italians:

Quote:
ROME -- Spike Lee's "Miracle at St. Anna" is raising historical hackles in Italy, where the WWII drama -- which links an anti-fascist Italian partisan resistance group to the 1944 Nazi massacre of 560 Italian civilians -- is being blasted as misrepresentation.

Lee and "St. Anna" scribe James McBride fielded questions Monday in Rome on the sensitive subject of their depiction of the dynamics of the Nazi slaughter in the Tuscan village, following pic's Italo press screening.

In the film, which spotlights the role of African-American soldiers in World War II, a partisan named Rodolfo collaborates with the Nazis, indirectly sparking the slaughter.

This aspect of Lee's "St. Anna" has incensed partisan veteran orgs, which fear it could fuel a "revisionist" backlash, as former partisan Moreno Costa told Corriere della Sera.

"This is a fictional story," McBride said. "The real question for me was how to make 'St. Anna' a reveal, because that is the craft of fiction.

"I am very sorry if I have offended the partisans. I have enormous respect for them. As a black American, we understand what it's like for someone to tell your history, and they are not you.

"But unfortunately the history of World War II here in Italy is ours as well, and this was the best I could do," McBride added.

Lee was not apologetic.

"I am not apologizing for anything. I think these questions are evidence that there is still a lot about your history during the war that you (Italians) have got to come to grips with.

"This film is no clear picture of what happened. It is our interpretation, and I stand behind it."

Epic!

Anyways, I think Spike was using all this "badmouthing" to get some attention for this movie. A release date around this time is not the best thing to start films of. TV Season just started.
I will hold off for a Blu-ray release and rent it first, since I am not a huge Spike Lee fan anyways (The only 3 movies I do really like are Malcolm X, 25th Hour and Inside Man).
Seems like Miracle is not that good afterall. 5.4/10 on imdb with less than 2000 votes (aren't the first 2000 votes always 10/10 because it comes from people who were involved in the movie )

BTW I just read an article in Maxim Magazine's October issue.
Spike Lee picked the best HD TV between those four-

Pioneer Elite Kuro HDTV Pro-111FD 50" plasma
Mitsubishi LT-46149 46" LCD
Vizio VP505XVT 50" plasma
Sony Bravia KDL-46Z4100 46" LCD

Besides having 2 of the Pioneers in his offices, he picked the Sony.
"The Sony's no baloney. to my naked eyeball, I can't tell much of a difference at all between this and the more expensive set [the Pioneer]. The whites are whiter, the darks are dark, and the tones the tones are spot-on. I'm buying this one!"

He also picked some "MUST-SEE IN HD" titles.
"Big, epic visuals look great on Blu'ray", says Lee. Here are his three top disc picks for showing off your home theater in full high-def glory.

A Clockwork Orange
Blade Runner
2001: A Space Odyssey

Oh well, would have picked some other titles to show off...
