Same here. I didn't expect much from it, but it really surprised me. It went from a movie I didn't particularly care much about seeing to being my top 3 of 2015.

To parrot the same critiques after I saw it...

It would have made a great play, movie? not so much.

Great performances and writing but did I need to see Seth Rogan ask him at every product launch to thank the Apple II team?

Something Woz might have said in passing once, now he looks like a passive aggressive dweeb.

Like Jobs is the only person who can validate them.

Don't get me started on the baby mama showing up to ask for money.

Great timing!

And the last act, the daughter hates him and ignores him but has no problem driving and hanging out at the event? Hmmmm.

In a movie, I want to see some believe ability. Not an excuse to spit out well written dialogue.

How would the content be any different as a play instead of a movie? You'd still have the same characters interacting at the same events, saying the same thing? And even Jobs comments on how people seem to be accosting him only before product launches, it's not like the movie is totally oblivious or not self-aware. "Believe ability" is not this movie's problem, it's not supposed to be a documentary.

Not sure why you wouldn't expect much from it, seeing as how it's got an Oscar-winning writer, Oscar-winning director, Oscar-winning actress and and Oscar-nominated lead actor. Oscar may not mean what it once did, but that pedigree should at least cause people to expect that it might be something worthwhile, regardless of content.

That Oscar-winning actress is also Oscar-nominated for this film.

Watched this the other day. Very good. The first part was so grainy because it was shot on 16mm film. I thought something was wrong with my TV. It was neat to see the filming technology change throughout the movie.

Simple - I just wasn't too interested in the subject matter. I'm definitely a fan of the talent involved, which is I why I watched it in spite of not being too enthusiastic about it beforehand. Sometimes a movie just doesn't grab you as something that absolutely has to be watched. This one didn't do that for me. I'm definitely glad I gave it a shot though, because my initial feelings about it were way off. I have a feeling many people are in that same boat, which is why it didn't meet expectations at the box office.

I was hoping the Oscars would breathe some life into it with several nominations, but sadly that didn't happen.

At first I thought it was because Apple was against the film, seeing as it wasn't even up for preorder in the iTunes Store, but it showed up yesterday on the Digital HD release. So, I dunno.
So strange. Very disappointed as I tend to favor my iTunes collection over VUDU. Glad to see that future Universal releases won't also be skipping out on the iTunes versions. Anyone have any clue why it wasn't included for this one? Was it a co-release with someone who doesn't do iTunes?

Simple, in a movie, the John Sculley material should take place in their own scenes, not a shouting match backstage were he (Sculley) obviously never set foot.
Nope, he shows up to 2 events, even after Jobs submarined him. Sculley couldn't stop by the office???
It seems pretty obvious the whole thing is structured like a play.

I don't want a documentary, there already is a good one about him, I want to see what he went through to get the iPhone launch to happen.
The deals he made with the record companies re: iTune and iPod.

The Next? Who cares?

There can be a great movie about the life of Steve Jobs from Isaacson's book, sadly, this isn't it.

Has anyone tried to take the UV code sticker off the slip cover yet?

How difficult is this one?

I tried using Goo Gone for the first time with The Martian slipcover and it was a nightmare.

Did significant damage to the cover in the process of getting the sticker off.

...others have come off relatively easily.

Try using a hair dryer. It's a lot less messy than the goo gone. Heating up the adhesive helps it come off pretty easily.

That's interesting.

But have you noticed that some stickers come off much easier than others?

...was just wondering if this sticker is one of the hard ones.

It was an easy removal for me. No need for Goo Gone or any other sticker-removal tricks.

Unless it's sat in a warehouse for a long time, the only stickers that cause problems are from Fox -- it's like they use an adhesive akin to glue.

As Sorkin said in the special features, the events in the film did not happen in the time frame you see in the movie (obviously). What Sorkin did was he condensed the key relationships in Jobs's life into the three acts and the result is a streamlined story. It may not be entirely truthful, but Sorkin highlighted the key components in Jobs's life. I'm not going to fault Sorkin for his choice to lump together all the events in the film because the three act structure is really what makes the film's pacing work.

Another point Sorkin stressed in the special features was that what you see on film are characters. They are not going to be as complex or accurate as their real-life counterparts, but they are there to serve a function in the film and they do exactly that.

If nothing else, this is some of the sharpest dialogue I've seen in a film and the performances are highly entertaining. The pacing kept my interest the entire film. I've seen this twice now and I think it's a masterpiece. Probably my favorite of 2015.

Brilliant film, except the last 4 minutes. Then it turns into a sentimental mess. Sorkin writes what should have been a spine-tingling ending and Boyle turned it into a sentimental mess. Up until that point it was in contention for my favorite film of the year. Everything about it was, IMO, Oscar-worthy from the script to the cinematography to the performances. Easily the second-best film to come from a Sorkin script (after The Social Network, of course).

This was out of stock at Wal-Mart and BB before I actually found it at another Wal-Mart across town. It was a blind buy. I'll probably catch it Wednesday.
