As a BD owner, while growing my first own movie collection, i find that many of the great movies from the last 15 years (and of course all from those before) are missing. Not only that we still are missing the production of one of the major studios (Universal). I wish our input as far as what movies the consumer is looking for, and the strong support for Universal to join could be heard. So, I was wondering, can anyone suggest of any possible direct forum in which we can give them our ideas?

hey snktal welcome to the forums
i think the reason why alot of old films are'nt getting released is because old films on the HD format have'nt been getting great sales because most people already own a copy and don't want to double dip on them. that HD is still a new format so give it time and i think we might be seeing more older films getting released. as for Universal i think its more a matter of them seeing the sales figures then people saying hey if you support us $$$$$ , that and the HD camp is most likely shooting money at them via some sort of money gun to stay loyal. |

It costs a lot of money (RELATIVELY) to put a movie on Blu-Ray so you have to pick the best selling titles. Over time, as with all production, the costs will fall and we'll see more titles. On top of which, companies often had to sludge through distribution rights issues to get a movie out on DVD but now the path is probably paved so we'll see fewer films delayed due to distribution issues.

It's not worth it financially to come with the "double-dip" as the majority of your 1st year releases by about 75% or maybe more...
The best movies on HD DVD are movies that alot of people already have on DVD.... The best movies on Blu-ray are new releases... why double dip when your consumer base is so small?...you have to have new movies to draw the new crowd...and HD DVD has few of those... |
