Thanks, Pro-B! I didn't know this was so close to a release. Egoyan is one of my favorite directors, so I'll definitely be picking this up.

You are welcome, Rock.

I will be picking it up as well, as I like Egoyan's work a lot.

On a somewhat related note, if you like independent films, see if you can get to a screening of this film (below). Hopefully we would get a Blu-ray release for it as well

It's strange that Egoyan made one of the best films of all time, The Sweet Hereafter, and has made nothing but garbage otherwise. It's crazy. Maybe this will be a step in the right direction for him.

Not a single one of the films in this beautiful box set can be described as "garbage". And Exotica really is a much better film than The Sweet Hereafter

Totally agree. Exotica is one of my all-time favorites. I also think Ararat is one of his best, and I wish it would get a blu-ray release. I can see how someone might not think his other movies quite reached the heights of these three, but not a single one of them is garbage.

As a proud Canadian and film lover, I often lament the crap quotient in our film industry...and to be quite honest a few of the offending hallmarks are present here - the made for TV digital look, The usual suspects of the Canadian actors guild (all 3 of them) and the set pieces that are so obviously Canadian doing a poor job looking American...

And at the risk of sounding racist, it's plain annoying watching gentiles portray jews (it's a subtle thing but is magnified in scenes where they are trying to perform a religious right- like forming a minyan)

But despite all this....I LOVED THIS MOVIE!!! It's a shame that only 10 of us saw it...

Just saw Remember for the first time. Excellent movie! I'm slowly becoming a big Atom Egoyan fan, and this film was exceptional. I really liked the "slow burn" storyline. The acting was very solid re: Christopher Plummer & the supporting cast; the late Martin Landau played a great role here, re: the one orchestrating the entire investigation.

One of my favorite scenes was probably when Zev (Plummer) went to the house in Canada looking for the guy who had killed his family years before.
[Show spoiler]He found out (from the guy's middle-aged son) that the man had passed a while back, and that he was the wrong guy anyway. However, when he tried to leave, the son - who was a pseudo-Nazi himself - realized who Zev was and his demeanor went from friendly to hateful in an instant. I thought it was great how Zev took out the vicious dog, as well as the scum-bag son. You could tell where this entire sequence was leading up to, but it still very intense nonetheless.

However, the real twist
[Show spoiler]in the film was the very end, when it was revealed that Zev had himself been a Nazi that had disguised himself as a concentration camp prisoner to avoid detection at the end of WW II. When the last guy on the list revealed Zev's history to him (that he had completely forgotten, almost certainly due to his dementia), you could see what was coming at the end.

Also, this "twist" made the previous scene I mentioned (when Zev killed the younger guy in the house, in self-defense) that much more ironic, given that Zev had himself been a Nazi - but he didn't realize this at the time.

I like being surprised when watching films, and many movies these days are extremely predictable. So, it was nice to see this unexpected
[Show spoiler]twist - which ended up making you see the entire Zev character differently. When I eventually re-watch this film, I'm sure I see it with a different perspective completely, due to already knowing the ending.

In any case, this movie may be my favorite AE film, though I haven't seen all of them. Extremely well-done.

The movie definitely brings to mind the news stories you hear occasionally about old guys who had committed horrible atrocities during WWII, and are finally been discovered after decades of hiding "in plain sight" - and who are finally brought to justice. This is happening less & less, however, as more of these people are dying of natural causes.

Well, I have to respectfully disagree with you Remember looked cheap. It was extremely well-done, with great acting, a solid storyline, and an extremely unexpected ending. I have no issue with the set pieces - they looked fine to me.

I think this is Egoyan's best since Ararat.
