Default Did Sony get a message?...

http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/sh...ease_Dates/116

Quote:
Only a few days after the debut of its first batch of Blu-ray disc titles, Sony Home Entertainment has announced a reshuffling of its next wave of releases, the studio announced today via press release.

Originally due for release tomorrow, June 27, both 'A Knight's Tale' and 'The Last Waltz' have been delayed. 'The Last Waltz' now has a street date of July 25, while a new date for 'A Knight's Tale' has yet to be issued.

Also dropped from Sony's upcoming Blu-ray release schedule are the July 25 debuts of 'Kung Fu Hustle,' 'Legends of the Fall,' 'Resident Evil: Apocalypse' and 'S.W.A.T.' No new street dates have yet to be determined.

Sony has not yet announced what, if any, changes might be made to each disc's specs and/or list price.
I wouldn't necessarily read too much into that, but I'm just starting to hope and wonder if Sony is indeed getting the message about the lacluster first round of titles and the rest of it.

I'm really hoping October comes around and we get that Sony player, Panny player, the Pioneer Elite, and we get this software up to where it's SUPPOSED to be.

Maybe this is another good step...

I've made no secret that, this early in the ballgame...delays can be very good things.

Hopefully this will be another case in point.

I really hope they went back to the drawing boards and decided to run with dual layer discs ...

this would be a wise decision on their part...

If Sony's isn't delaying these releases to make them better quality they are setting themselves up for even more bashing. Can you imagine these titles coming out in September and still looking like crap? I hope to God they're working on making them nice high quality releases. They've gotta look at least as good as HD DVD for anyone to bite.

I saw this article and thought the same thing...50 GB DL discs and better quality. We can possibly look foward to the more efficient codecs with maybe even,...here's phenomenal thought,...HD extras. Oh, let's not forget the audio aspect, too!

i am pretty glad they are delaying legends of the fall. The release date actually crossed by mind when i saw how crappy the first blu-ray disks were. I really hope they wait for the 50G disks before they try and put this one out.

Sony should really put up the red lights until they can put out something at at least can compete with hd-dvd.

Ditto, Ditto...Ditto....

It's not like most of us don't have a solid DVD collection & HD cable/Sat and upconvert players to tide us over. I want to walk in the day the sony BDP-S1 comes out, take it home with 3-4 titles and geek out all day and it be the experience i've dreamt about for months! have that feeling of my first DVD-Hometheatre all over again.

im pretty sure they'll be fixing any quality issues for future releases.
i only wish they'd re-release the fifth element once the problems are solved - i will not buy the current version because of the crappy reviews it got.

I bought some movies already...I'm being careful to stay away from the bad press titles like HOFD, Hitch & TFE.

So far i bought "Crash", Underworld Evo, t2 & Ultraviolet.

Underworld Evo is a good showcase for Blu Ray, you'll love it.

And if Resident Evil looks as good quality as the high def trailer on the Underworld Evo blu ray I'll be very pleased.
