Default Rollercoaster (1977)

https://www.shoutfactory.com/film/ac.../rollercoaster

Quote:
Take the ride in SENSURROUND®

Thrills abound in this high-speed suspense yarn as Timothy Bottoms, a determined terrorist, begins to turn America's amusement parks into battlefields. The tension mounts as affable safety inspector George Segal attempts to track down the saboteur who as targeted the country's most popular rollercoaster, and its riders, for senseless destruction. The edge-of-the-seat excitement mounts as the battle of wits between Segal and Bottoms builds to an explosive climax. Co-starring Richard Widmark and Henry Fonda, the Jennings Lang production takes viewers on an unforgettable trip filled with sense-shattering twists and hairpin turns.

Great news. I thought they might have snuck this in the Scream line but it matters not. If Scorpion can put out City on Fire I'm just waiting on Warner to get round to The Swarm and When Time Ran Out to finish off my disaster movie wants.

Hoping for a BLU for this one for many years. Curious what audio options they may include to re-create the Sensurround effect.

Awesome! Can get rid of the non anamorphic DVD. Almost bought the Italian version. Glad I waited.
Hmmm... Maybe Shout has the remaining Airport movies.

I got the Airport sequels from France. I'm in the UK, but I believe they are region free. Have a look at the France forum for more information.

Been toying with the idea of that, like I was with the Italian Rollercoaster blu. But I think I'll wait a bit now and see what happens. Not opposed to importing, (as my collection shows), but those French Airport discs are pricey.

When it "City on Fire" hitting bluray? I know Scorpion were talking about releasing it but they were having trouble finding a decent master. I hope Warner releases "Beyond the Poseidon Adventure" too!

I made a custom cover for "Rollercoaster" a few months ago. If anyone is interested in a copy, PM me with your email address.

I am super excited for this! Part of it was filmed at my hometown amusement park, Kings Dominion, and it is cool to see what the park looked like back its early years.

Aside from The Towering Inferno, my favorite disaster film. I had been holding off on getting the Italian release, but this news has prompted me to pull the trigger.

If it's like the Battlestar Galactica movie that was also Sensurround, then it could wind up with DTS-HD MA 2.1

A good friend of mine went to the sneak preview of Rollercoaster in San Diego and said that the rollercoaster crash scene was quite a bit gorier and brutal than what was seen in the final release version. It looks like they trimmed down that sequence to probably get a PG rating, and that footage is probably long-gone. Still plays good as it is, of course, but I'd love to have seen that footage.

He also saw the legendary uncut "Logan's Run" sneak in San Diego (there are websites devoted to that one critical sneak preview); it included much R-rated footage that was eventually cut out very haphazardly for the PG release version when the studio decided the film should be aimed more at kids (the book is very adult). All that footage is gone forever, too. Some scenes in the film are clearly edited to shreds (ice cave, for example) and don't make a lot of sense that way. Love the film anyway.
