Is it just mine or is everyone's slower than crap (as in load times)? I'm seriously considering selling this POS. Nearly 2 minutes to load a movie for such a high end player is a joke to me. Whats the word on the load times for the Sony BDP S350?

Check your firmware version. If it is 1.0, then update to 1.2. Version 1.7 is due out any day now that is supposed to cut down on the load times. It really is a good player, and is going to be made even better with future firmware updates. Check this link for a ton of information. A lot of pages, but worth reading. Good luck.

My Sony 350 loads pretty quick compared to 2 min. I am guessing 30-45 secs. Also keep in mind though that you turn it on and it works like a PS3, so that loads up first but does not take long at all and you get the Sony xCross Media Bar which is nice, smaller version than the PS3. I really like this player alot, especially for the money and you can get it for $299 rgight now and rumors say $250 soon from online places. The one thing that is nice is that the Pioneer does support the deep color format and is only one of two players that do.

current firmware is 1.02 and the upcoming one is 1.07... I have the similar BDP05FD and can confirm the player load times are slow. Firmware 1.07 is supposed to increase the load times. I can confirm the following issues with the Pioneer players...
1. Layer change on SD-DVD is abysmal... some movies pause for three seconds... 2. HMDI output occasionally drops audio after the layer change... pausing and play brings it back... a real pain... 3. There appears to be a compatibility issue with some displays. I have a JVC RS-1 and it drops frames (about a second's worth) every 15 minutes or so on some SD-DVDs... It appears to be on HDMI sepc 1.2 or earlier and/or colorspace settings (RGB or 4:2:2 or 4:4:4) |
