Just got the Patriot from Walmart...1 week early! - Blu-ray Forum

I went to Walmart today to deposit a paycheck and I checked out the blu ray section as I always do. THe blu Ray section here is very large compared to other walmarts I read about. So then I noticed The Patriot out on the selves for sale....it even says July on the sticker on the front of it....so Im like hell ya and bought it for 21 and change.....I cant wait to watch it tonight...Im assuming this was just a mistake at my Walmart located in MIddletown, NY....heres a pic to back it up....

By the way, I noticed my walmart set up an excellent new blu ray display witha Sony 32" LCD 1080i set showing off movies....I was like wow...and next to it on the corner was a tiny HD DVD display with no tv showing it off and plus they had only 12 movies out for the HD DVD while blu ray on this display alone had over 20.......just thought it was funny! go BLU!

This is not listed on there website yet and everyone knows it is released next Tuesday. Any chance you can pick up more?

Frys' does that quite often also. Teenagers stocking shelves don't pay attention and put movies out early! Good find!

I noticed that inside the booklet that comes with the movie that the disc has "a picture calibration easter egg". When u press 7669 on ur blu ray remote that it calibrates ur picture....I didnt notice in any other Sony booklets on their other releases...is this new? I havent tried it on other discs yet and cant find anything abou it in the search? Right now Im currently testing out the movie...I will post a review once I watch through it...

I walked into best buy today and found to my surprise a copy of The Patriot: Extended Cut for sale... snatched that up like a cheap hooker!

Your not the only one! Apparently this is not just a localized mistake!
Sony catches wind of this, they will be putting up some hefty fines to these stores!

Good find! I've gotten lucky with Wal Mart a few times in this area. They put the last Nine Inch Nails CD out over a week early, which I was very happy about. I'll have to check the Wal Mart by my house tonight. As far as the Sony calibration menu, I got Layer Cake, which is a fairly old bd title if I remember correctly, and it had the "easter egg" listed in there.

I don't think they care at all about this. Especially not for catalogue titles.

Lucky you! You should check your lottery numbers!

I love when I can get away with a new disc or game before street date! Last time it happened to me: I managed to snag "Filmation's Ghostbusters" Vol. 1 DVD box set the day before street date.......it was on the shelf at a Best Buy in Kentucky.
