Basically what the title says. Ordered the blu-ray disc from Amazon.com, and despite being billed as region free on Amazon's site and many other sites, the disc refuses to load on both of my Panasonic blu-ray players and my Sony PS4. All of my equipment is certified Region B and I am located in Europe. :-( I really wanted to see this film. How do I edit Region Code information on blu-ray.com so that others will not make the same mistake? Last edited by DecibelGuy; 05-23-2017 at 03:17 PM. |

Thank you for your efforts.
![]() Unsure whether to return this disc to Amazon.com for a refund, or keep it and at least have the DVD (which I can watch no problem.) I have sent a private message asking about the issue on the film's official Facebook page. Let's hope they will at least reply and clarify the problem. |

If it states Region A only on the back then there is nothing that GKIDS can do. I doubt it's their fault that Amazon mis-labeled the product and with it being a US release I doubt they would do anything about a refund for a non USA customer who encounters playback issues

Well, curiously, there is no mention of the disc region on either the cover (and slipcover) or the disc art. Zilch. It's like GKids/Universal weren't sure whether to have it be region free or region locked until the disc and packaging went to press.
As for returns, they're not a problem. I did in the past return a DVD - a Disney release of The Waltz King, which had such disgraceful video quality that I refused to keep it. Amazon gave me a refund no questions asked after I complained, this despite the problems being Disney's fault for releasing the subpar disc in the first place. I like Amazon.com ![]() Except when they mislabel stuff. ![]() |

OK, I'm bumping this thread not as a belated anniversary celebration or somethin'. I have an incredible revelation to make (re The Prophet region-botched blu-ray disc.)
It suddenly occurred to me (yes, a year on ![]() As expected the disc gave me the same old message on my laptop as it did on my stand-alone player, i.e. that the regions on the disc and the hardware do not match aka I am out of luck. However, I entered PowerDVD's information window-thingy where it detects every disc's specs, and lo and behold it certifies The Prophet blu-ray as region A, B and C. ![]() What sort of black magic is preventing this disc from being loaded? Should I submerge it in holy water or something? EDIT: Added screencap as attachment for better quality. ![]() Last edited by DecibelGuy; 05-23-2017 at 03:19 PM. |
