I actually like the chapter names and the fact they printed the chapters on the insert. It made it easier for me if I had certain chapter or chapters I wanted to watch over, I would already know the chapter to go to quickly. Now on blu ray, its a PAIN.. you have to cycle through the chapters one at a time and then guess based on the picture its the chapter you want to watch..

These are things I actually thought were cool, wasn't really thinking about anything that might be considered "funny" in a bad way. Although when it comes to DVD-ROM stuff, I'm sure all the weblinks they used to have are probably long gone now. |

I still like animated menus but elaborate menu transitions got old after awhile. "Oh, just get to the next screen already!" I'd often find myself saying during some elaborate 10-second transition.
I always liked chapter titles, though, and found them useful. The first time I ever saw them on the back of a Laserdisc I picked up at a store one day, I was like "Chapter titles? Why does a movie have chapter titles?" My family never owned Laserdiscs so I'd been unaware of them. |

So, I remember hating Snapper cases (or Snapcases as they are now called) with a passion. I hated how they were different from standard Amarays and would stick out like sore thumbs in a collection.
I've since grown an odd affinity for them lately. In fact, I've begun to collect Snapcases! Oh, the horror. Maybe it is because they are getting harder to find, maybe because they are rare now in fine to excellent condition, or maybe it is because the art on the cover is usually superior to all of the modernized picture art that they use now for movies with big bold pictures of the main actors. The Snapcases almost always had the original poster art, and I think that is what I like about them now. |

Remember back when they'd list "Interactive Menus" as a special feature? If you were lucky you might even score some paragraph long actor biographies!
Don't they still do this? I get a kick out of the Blu-ray commercials that sport a side by side comparison on a standard DVD. |

DVDs that came out before IMDB used to have truncated filmographies for the main actors/actresses in the film. The DVD authors would get ahead of themselves every so often though.
Die Hard 4 1999 SD.jpg Everybody remember when "Die Hard 4", featuring Reginald Veljohnson, came out in 1999? |

![]() I only remember seeing it on Ghostbusters but it was the visual audio commentary - you see the silhouettes of the people doing commentary so they can point at things on the screen, etc. But you could run it just as an audio commentary so some of the stuff they say makes no sense if you are not paying close enough attention since you don't know what they are pointing at. |

I'm certain it's still a thing, but I have yet to see dual-sided blu-ray discs with a second movie (or aspect ratio) on the back of the disc.

Or the dual format - bluray on one side, dvd on the other. I know there were some issues with it but I thought they figured it out. Would sure be better than all these 2 disc sets that they have released.

![]() ![]() Those kinds of discs are called BD-59s. The Bourne trilogy uses them and a lot of TV shows used them. You don't see them much anymore, cause frankly they sucked. |
